The fantrainers in the scrapyard were in poor shape.I think the business has now stopped purchasing airframes as there is not a lot of room there now.The storage area now has antiques in, some aviation related while in front thier is a very nice restaurant!! I may be visiting again in march so will take a few more photos.

Yes live locally (30k),When I lived here in 1998 it was pretty much the same it may have been used for para training.Restoration was tongue in cheek though!!There is a list somewhere of all gate guardians etc in Thailand,I will try and find it.There is a T-28 as gate guardian at the air base here.

My mother saw two German crews marched through the streets after being rescued from the sea, crowds of people were shouting not cheering “hang the bast…s”.I have the badge of a crew member who was later washed up on the beach.

In Flying training these aircraft would do 6-8 hrs per day and were fairly reliable.Exhaust leaks were a common fault but otherwise they just kept going!!Oil usage per day about 15 gallons per engine! I worked on the RAE one at Little Staughton after I came out of the RAF from Oakington(5FTS).

I sorted all my negatives into holiday shots and after scanning burnt them.Any family negatives were scanned and saved in a negative file binder .Just have a bonfire with stuff you dont need, you will feel better afterwards !!!

By the way,HMS Plymouth was actually the last ship to be built in Devonport dockyard! There were spots where she could have been permanently moored but Plymouth city council missed(as usual)the opportunity!

I was not asking a question of the book.I was trying to fathom out that with the high fatality rate how were captains chosen as many replacement pilots would have little experience?Yes the RAF only had one pilot and he was captain but the B-17 etc had two!!As for the love story ,would you think that this would not happen during the war?
