they didin’t buy it yet 😉
True, the fact that this is what they would like to do shows there is very little synced up thinking in their defence procurement.
This is got to be a joke. 3 different carriers with 3 different fighter types? (two of those types in the MIG-29 and LCA will be where India is the world’s sole operator).
Very little weapon of pilot interoperability, very few common weapons systems, 3 different supply chains and training set ups.
Even the USN is sticking with just two types. This is probably one of the best ways of wasting money I have ever seen….
As I suspected and been saying for years. The whole Dassault/HAL liability is a rouse and a red herring. India simply does not have the money, but does not want to lose face now with the rest of the world watching.
Simply no money in the pot. In fact maybe not enough for other projects.
Two seater Mirage 5 crashed. Base commander killed as well as pilot.
Jaguar crashed in Ambala today, pilot ejected.
To admit I’m a bit surprised … I thought that type was already in service. Even more I’m surprised by the new designation KE-03 … any idea what’s the meaning of KE ??
Deino
Yes, was delivered almost a year back, but as you know, delivery is very different from a squadron standing up on the type with FOC
Pakistan Air Force 4 Squadron re-equips with the KE-03 “Karakorum Eagle”. Fully operational and based at Masroor AFB
Btw Saffron Bandit is a biennial large force exercise of the PAF focused on what lies to our east not COIN. What Nirav alluded to was Zarb e Momin, a large force combined arms exercise with the army. This was again an India specific exercise not COIN. Oh & one Viper does a full pylon jettison due to a bird strike to get home & the sarcasm from ill-informed people with an axe to grind never ends.
Simply dont feed them….
Better tell the Israelis Nirav thinks they need two training rounds I guess.
Guess their sidewinders fell off too….
He is trolling, ignore him, will report that post as well. Everyone who knows anything about jet fighters knows its routine to carry a single round sometimes for training. He just picks it up due to it being a Pakistani je.
Thats an SU-30 in the clip.
From what I gather the problem is the MIG-29s not being able to take off again if they miss the wire on one engine
The nature of my question is aimed at whether it’s a specific Indian requirement or do other navies have similar requirements on their twin-engined aircraft (Hornet, Super Hornet, Rafale, Su-33, Su-25UTG)
Oh, I see. Pretty certain USN fighters need to be able to miss an arrestor hook and take off again on only one engine, especially considering how far they usually operate from the nearest land bases.
Tried to google but no real info
Definitely limited to Navy.. There is no situation when an Air Force aircraft has to perform an emergency take-off on one engine after it has missed an arrestor wire.
Do we have any information about the capability of other carrier fighters like Rafale or Super Hornet to take-off on one engine without catapult?
Good point, but certainly cannot think of a situation where a carrier has to operate close to shore due to safety concerns about its fighters…
