Chaps. I get the hatred and pure vile you reserve for my country. I really do, but trying to make the flimsiest of connections with aviation by such posts just proves the depth pf insecurity you have.

Can we stick to aviation. If not, why not just open a “Things I hate about Pakistan thread” seperately and lets keep this one clean?

    Just injecting some sanity here.

I am certain it makes sense just for an Independent Scotland and England to keep the current QRA arrangments and Scotland just pays costs for it, whilst leaving all the existing infrastructure in place?

Think the only thing they may consider they want control over is some MPA and transport planes and maybe SAR cover, yet even SAR will have to be corinated with England and Northern Ireland, so again, makes sense to keep the current arrangments in place.

Looks like the Pakistani military is now fighting its own.

A year or so back, we had the PAF Erieye attack where one aircraft was lost, another damaged & the PAF hauled up in Parliament & news that insiders may have been involved. There was also the attack earlier on PN.

Now its the Pakistani Navy again – and this time, its own officers were involved in trying to take over the ship.

This is bad news for the Pak military. These attacks are now being led by insiders as versus being merely abetted by them.

Nothing really to do with aviiation. Nice to know that the only thing you can contribute.

Anyone with the interests of India at heart would oppose it tooth and nail. Arguing for the tender to be scaled back or scrapped is one thing, but simply substituting another contender for Rafale is absurd.

I think it is useful to observe the (public) silence of both the Russians and Americans on this matter, in contrast to the very public clamouring from Germany and the UK. At a certain point, continued advocacy of Typhoon becomes both juvenile on the part of those nations, and disrespectful of India and its processes.

Cant see any clamboring from Germany at all. It is all in the heads of the Indian/Russian press. No German comment so far. Probably because they are wise enough not to be led up the garden path on false promises from India. UK and France are already learning this lesson……

I don’t know what is more amusing, the Indian government seriously expecting Germany to sell their most of their Eurofighter fleet or the fanboys on here stil expecting the Rafale deal to go ahead.

    It is over.

Lets see the usual suspects spin this and accuse Janes of being unreliable now…….

Indian Air Force unhappy at progress of PAK-FA fifth-gen fighter

    http://www.janes.com/article/42765/indian-air-force-unhappy-at-progress-of-pak-fa-fifth-gen-fighter

“Officials claim Russia is unwilling even to share details of a fire that erupted aboard a prototype PAK-FA as it landed at the Zhukovsky test centre near Moscow in June. An IAF technical evaluation team at the site was reportedly not permitted access to the fire-affected platform.”

“Under the new arrangement, HAL will only provide the FGFA only with tyres, basic navigation equipment, laser designation pods, heads-up-displays and additional coolant for the radar, official sources said.”

“As a result, in recent months the IAF has significantly reduced the number of FGFA aircraft it plans to acquire from around 220 to 130-145.”

What is the consensus on what is going to happen with China’s 500+ remaining J-7s (and Q-5s, J-8s…) At current production rates China can’t hope to replace more than a fraction of existing airframes, so will we see —

a.) significant increase in production rates
b.) aircraft retired without replacement and units disbanded
c.) units transition to other capability types e.g. airlift, unmanned systems
d.) some combination of the above

I think even the Chinese have figured out they dont need one for one replacements for the J-7s.

J-10B, J-20, J-31 are light years ahead of their F-7s in terms of capabilities…..
