Hello,
59 Belgians had a DFC.Some were members of the SAAF.Two Belgians had the DSO
About E Bay’s uniform,it’s a battle dress which was abandonned mid fifties. It’s a Major (BAF) uniform. As it wore a “médaille du prisonnier” perhaps is it possible to determine the name of the man.I’ll try and will come back with (perhaps )an answer.
hello,
a little reply.Yes Mk IV flew during the BoB.I know that squadrons 235 and 236 flew with this aircraft. They are on the list of the fighter squadrons of BoB.and the aircrew bore the BoB clasp. Two Belgians had a victory on Mk IV Henri GONAY and Leon PREVOT.their victims were two He 60
Belgian drinking? Water?
Happy birthday and many more years!
Moggy, you are right.Thank you for your opinion;I share it
Dimitri,
Do you know that R.Lallemant has written three books?
1)Rendez-vous avec la chance (rendez-vous with fate)
2)Rendez-vous d’un jour (one day’s rendez vous)
3)Rendez-vous avec le destin (rendez-vous with destiny)
The last is just published now.
To my knowledge only the first was translated in English.
I’m in contact with Robert (Bobby)Laumans (350 belgian Sqn)who was one of the men preparing the Great Escape (earth in his pockets). He says that the first part of the film ,before the escape self, tells the truth.
To Stieglitz. My opinion is that many Belgians are interested by aviation (remember the crowded BAF meetings) BUT there are very few contacts between them.
LEST WE FORGET,the fifty and the others.
One of my friends,Leopold HEIMES,air gunner during the BoB at 235 Sqn,was a pilot of C 47 during the film.He told me that he was obliged to make evasive manoeuver during a mass parachute launching. It was because a paratrooper (Mackenzie )was to light. You see his manoeuver on the movie. He was also the pilot of the Dak exploding in flame, behind an embankment.
