Hi All,

Geoff.
Hi All,
Mr Merry and MikeJ,
You are of coarse quite correct I had obviously clicked a link thinking it was a new discovery but I was incorrect but still was an amazing amount of surplus Packard/Merlin stock just the same, your friend Ken has replied and gave the info about the acquisition and the Spitfire is on an when time allows to be restored basis.
Geoff.
Hi All,
captainslow,
I remember that tent displaying the 189 only to well I never had enough money to buy one of the Geoff Nutkins ? prints to have it signed by Lothar Mothes so I bought a postcard size print of an artist’s impression of it being attacked by two Russian Hurricanes and asked Mr Mothes if he wouldn’t mind signing which he did, I shook his hand and thanked him then promptly had some buffoon tell me off as he was only meant to be signing the prints I just walked away, in my mind as on this forum to many snobs in the varied aviation fields, Mr Mothes RIP.
The only off putting part of your thread was your comment and smiley smirk about the unemployed chap, yes there are lazy lead swingers but nothing to be laughed about you are suddenly to be found without a job through no fault of your own. If you have been like me lucky like myself since leaving school (In my case 1976) and only recently had an industrial accident that brought on unemployment for what ever benefit you claim just pray it never happens to you because I can tell you through experience it’s not a feeling that you want to go through long term like I have.
Oxcart,
Your spot on matey.
Geoff.
Hi All,
Mike J,
I was thinking in terms of being used up or bought with X amount of spares by their customers ? 😮
Geoff.
Hi All,
Mike J,
Can I assume that nearly all this inventory would have by now found a good home ? if it is the same cache ?
Geoff.
Hi All,
Mr Merry,
Looks to be correct many thanks for your help.:applause:
Mike J,
I couldn’t remember the proper story behind it but it looks about right, although a few different pictures so Like I said probably missed the boat having said that I have e-mailed for some clarification for my own sanity a right berk I am :stupid:
Geoff.
Hi All,
Not finding a story about a newly discovered cache of Packard/Merlins and brand new parts that I read a week or so ago through a link on this forum. :apologetic:
Geoff.
Hi All,
MikeJ,
I cant find the story now I must have come across it while looking for something else, I remember the outlines of Some company taking over a defunct company then discovering tons (Literally) of brand new parts for Packard/Merlin engines + a whole load of engines in shipping cartons some looked plastic ? but there was a good number, I will of coarse keep searching I just assumed everybody was aware of the find and I had missed the boat as usual ? unless it was an old story.:apologetic:
Geoff.

Hi All,
With recent cache of P-51 Merlin/Packard’s being unearthed in America could any of these be used as a backup spare for the project or indeed any present and future airworthy Lancaster restorations ? Or are they just not the same type of Merlin/Packard rather than RR built being a more powerful Mk used on the Lancaster bombers ?
Anyway excellent news and congratulations from the lowest to the highest member who are bring NX611 back to the air.:applause:
Geoff.
Hi All,
