 Signed the petition, I noted this article which shows the hypocrisy of councils and their spending habits while claiming they need extra income etc. etc. etc.

How can they justify spending a £1000 a day for a stand in member of staff from an agency yet are prepared to evict out a museum that is paying rent ?   If push comes to shove well then why not ask Charlie boy for a hand after all the Museum falls well within the boundaries of his Duchy. 

I am certain that we can all find similar stories about your local shires/council wasteful spending habits.  My own example is the local council opening up a new community centre/hall while banging on about being frugal and ( especially now with the electricity going through the roof exponantionally ) ever since it was completed the outside flood lights are left on from dusk till dawn 7 days a week and as the nights get longer I imagine the bill will get dearer and the tax payers will be forking out for it,   Yet at the same time we are told that local council tax will go up.

IMPO I think we are all being taken for mugs, for one thing this government should grow a backbone and tell EDF we will pay up when the French do,  Macron has capped they’re electricity why should we have to pay more especially when you think the UK ships out it’s over produced electricity (If I am wrong please put me right on the last bit!)

 I was looking for any news regarding the Tempest II G-TEMPT, there is nothing on the Ultimate Warbird Twitter or Facebook regarding the above yet they are still posting.

Of interest I thought are the two rather tongue in cheek comments about bringing the V & II back to the UK 🙂       But imagine a fantasy if you will of What if it’s true ?    Personally I think Mr Grace is probably on another fact finding mission regarding his own Tempest II.?  

I also look at this way the chap ( Andy Salter ) who was working on the two Tempests but concentrating on the V has retired and Kermit as far as I am aware has put them firmly (Like a lot of other aircraft) on the back burner concentrating on his on going airworthy restorations A-26/Boomerang/The Lockheed Vega/Me108 & 109 to name but a few of the many on going airworthy restorations.

But just supposing for one minute Mr Weeks decided to concentrate on just important American military aircraft of WWII or just relevant to himself being all about aviation history as he is.  The money he would get from the sale would go to other projects when you consider the current economic climate it’s easier to liquidate an asset when you have so many rare aircraft to choose from.

Either that or Kermit and Richard could be discussing about restoring his two over in the US at some point when Richard’s Tempest is trouble free so to speak, but like I suggest above is a more likely scenario. 

Going off on another completely different tangent,  I had another thought which concerns the original Lancaster KB976 tail section that is being repaired for Elvington by the LAHC team and whether or not  this could that possibly be swapped with the one Kermit has as he would have most of KB976 apart from the mid section which I think is in Australia wouldn’t he ? 

Failing the above what having his KB976 Lancaster parts shipped back to East Kirkby to work they’re magic ?  I imagine that as they have invested in the different jigs over the years they would be by far the most experienced engineers currently at restoring Lancaster’s are they not ? 

Or in the long run does it not matter if the aero engineers who take on these projects are specialists in vintage aircraft per say and so long as they can read all the technical paperwork and drawings thus the project becoming just another job to them as trades persons in basic terms ? 

I know, I know, I know, still wearing those rose tinted glasses but no harm in wondering I imagine that like all things regarding restoration:-  1st – Cost, 2nd – Logistics, 3rd – the will of all parties involved, 4th Time to do it. these are really the main things to be considered when attempting an airworthy restoration especially.

Still when you consider what has been achieved elsewhere in the world regarding bombers or simply rare aircraft it can be done if all those parameters are met.

 With the new Hawker Restorations project P3966 hitting the headlines it put me in mind of another project that of P3175 (Admittedly only an fuselage project) but nonetheless an airworthy restoration candidate IMPO judging by the Sun article picture of what is left of P3966 remains.

This project seems to have stagnated as there have been no updates by where it resides for whatever reason, to this I have emailed the museum for an update. http://www.aviationmuseum.net)

Hi All,

 So what has happened to the possible return to flight plans then ? Is that still to be discussed and hopefully run from the new Elvington field ?   Elvington would have made a great base for the cold war jets from Bruntingthorpe, dare I suggest XH558 and Canberra WK163 especially now since Finningly/Robin Hood Airport is closing also.

This news now also begs the question about the future of  XV232 as Elvington already have XV250 will 232 be scrapped ? 🙁

Just a shame nobody could have made all these moves a few months ago as I imagine these closures have been known to some for quite a while dare I say kept quiet until to late to actually do anything if it could be ?

This would have ensure the aircrafts long term future a lot easier, even just a feasibility study IMPO.   To have all wanting new homes not only that a proper cold war atmosphere could have been created, jets and props what’s not to like?

(Yes I know another rose tinted glasses moment! )

But here is the cynic in me now:-  Is this yet more erasing of history, you can just imagine a future step of banning all military related artwork being banned/Imagine the Artists being labelled all sorts and the images having warnings on them in case of offence or causing PTSD / All museums being closed etc. etc. etc.

I know it all sounds daft but people said that about other recent events and looked what has happened through the fear of offending a small minority who do not like jokes as an example.  All in the name of appeasement and not wanting to upset somebody who has a flea in there ear!

If you don’t teach about histories mistakes how can you learn what really happened. ?

  I just hope the pilot makes a full recovery that is the main thing,  Just a sad thing to happen when it had been recently restored and flown by or for it’s new owner especially after all this C19 malarkey.

As for the aircraft another restoration beckons after any investigation is completed,  looking at the aircraft it looks like it would be possible.
