 According to wiki Coastal Command couldn’t manage in the early part of the war until it got it’s act together in1942, while this was going on it was the RAF Fighter Command who stepped up and managed things. 

” But the command could not protect English Channel convoys, and was forced to abandon operations until July 1940. RAF Fighter Command was given the task, supplying air attack and defence with the enemy”

However they did have some Fairy Battles so could the German misidentified the aircraft ?  If not then obviously Coastal Command Spitfire is a misnomer and I would look at RAF loss records for the set time period after all the search clues are all there.

Yorkshire East Coast – Nth &Sth  / Spitfire units Sqdns based in area / Heinkel reconnaissance aircraft losses / Fishing boat – Ports / German attacks:- ENG Press:-  ” the German Air Force carried out no fewer than 15 different raids over the east coast of Britain on Tuesday”  &  GER Press:- ” The German news agency says German bombers at midday successfully attacked a British convoy in the northern section of the North Sea.”

” The Spitfire shot down yesterday was the only loss suffered during the German raids on the British coast and convoys. ”  This is one of the best clues IMPO,  so you are looking for a Spitfire that was shot down off the Nth Yorkshire coast basically and it was the only one ever.

A couple of oddities in the article:- Fishing boat and a lewis gun  Q – Were Civi fishing boats armed in WW2 ?  /  Having said all the above I did notice the date,  so was it a fools day stretch of the truth to buck the Civi’s up ?

Looks like somebody who was involved in the survey knows where it is, scrolling to the bottom of the page a update from 2018 a chap Nick Marsh notes the location marker is wrong and the OS Map coordinates are the correct ones.

 I read the OP and just ran,  it was Brylcreem Boys as pointed out by the first reply by JDK and others alike,  I had just neglected to read all the other replies that’ll teach me 🙁

Anyway I dug around on’t interweb and found this 2017 thread https://hmvf.co.uk/topic/37960-tv-drama-programme/ by  (colinmbarron1956 )  Courtesy of https://hmvf.co.uk/   He comments on an article regarding this drama that was written for the TV/Times, he also wrote an unused Flypast article, along with his book titled:- Planes On Film.-  Colin M. Barron.

Sadly the thread drifts into Airline so I suspect it as already pointed out is Purple Twilight, yet I cannot find a DVD or any other media of how to view the drama if in archives somewhere I guess I’ll have to contact ITV and see if they can help.

What about the Harriers at RNAS Culdrose that were/are used for carrier jet handling training I presume they are still active ? I know up until last year they were.

Prop Strike – I would like to take the credit for the picture but I Googled it and there are plenty to choose from as it happened,  I will amend my post to credit the photographer I just thought it looked the part.

It was just a quick glimpse just by chance, saw it pass between our house and next doors alley walls. I heard the Chinook coming, just in right place at the right time gardening.  I went inside and checked the flightradar web site and watched while posting the info yesterday, it flew south passed Oxford and that was that!  😮 )

 On the evening of 07/09 just as the darkness was complete I heard that lovely thud,thud,thud of a Chinook in the distance as it approached our area, stepped outside the back door to observe if possible but all I saw was the flashing lights very low.

Nipped upstairs to see if it was on Flightradar24 but nothing ? ? ? Could this have been a special ops training flight ? seems odd as Leamington does not get the military traffic it used to sadly.

The Chinook was flying east west and bearing in mind that Hereford is East’ish from my location the more I lean to a special ops training flight, still it’s only an assumption and we all know Assuming makes an Ass out of U&Me 😮 )

If the article is true then why are we facing these massive energy rises ?? again when you consider what Macron has told EDF to cap it’s prices why cannot the UK do exactly the same and make them stick to it.

I new that the UK had been exporting Liquid Gas and had heard recently on a video about exporting electricity. I agree with your zealots labelling, as with the idiots blocking Roads and gluing they’re hands to whatever they fancy just bullying there way for whatever cause they think of next.
