Hi All,
Following on from yesterdays viewing I watched the remake of Whisky Galore 2016. (Via Sky Cinema). I am sad to say that while it did have a few
funny moments it’s not a patch on the original IMPO. It added an extra unwanted twist along with some mixing of storyline taken from the original that
never made sense to me. i.e in the original it set the password joke up in the remake there was no set up just the punch line ? ?
(I assume these changes was an attempt to put they’re own stamp on the film ?) but that is just my opinion you either enjoy it or not simple!;)
The cast has recognisable talent from both sides of the border with stand outs George Fisher (Rabb C Nesbit),Eddie Izzard and James Cosmo who fit they’re roles perfectly, while not being up to the original it should not put anybody off from viewing it, accept it for what it is as each person view on anything are not the same…
Starring:-Gregor Fisher,Eddie Izzard,Sean Biggerstaff,Naomi Battrick,James Cosmo,Ellie Kendrick and Kevin Guthrie.

Hi All,
Longitude by Dava Sobel.
The tenth anniversary edition of the dramatic human story of an epic scientific quest: the search for the solution of how to calculate longitude and the unlikely triumph of an English genius. With a new Foreword by the celebrated astronaut Neil Armstrong.
“Sobel has done the impossible and made horology sexy – no mean feat”
New Scientist Anyone alive in the 18th century would have known that ‘the longitude problem’ was the thorniest scientific dilemma of the day – and had been for centuries. Lacking the ability to measure their longitude, sailors throughout the great ages of exploration had been literally lost at sea as soon as they lost sight of land. Thousands of lives, and the increasing fortunes of nations, hung on a resolution.
The quest for a solution had occupied scientists and their patrons for the better part of two centuries when, in 1714, Parliament upped the ante by offering
a king’s ransom(£20,000) to anyone whose method or device proved successful. Countless quacks weighed in with preposterous suggestions. The scientific establishment throughout Europe – from Galileo to Sir Isaac Newton – had mapped the heavens in both hemispheres in its certain pursuit of a
celestial answer. In stark contrast, one man, John Harrison, dared to imagine a mechanical solution. Full of heroism and chicanery, brilliance and the absurd, LONGITUDE is also a fascinating brief history of astronomy, navigation and clockmaking.

Hi All,
Kurt – I couldn’t agree more. In this day and age when the restoration world knows what damage can occur to even some cocooned airframes let alone
replicas that are I assume not as sturdy ? it’s absolutely disgusting hat a new custodian can promise one thing then just dump it where she is and not
bother about it is unforgivable….:(
Geoff.
Hi All,
Sorry to resurrect an old thread but has anybody seen these dreadful images of the Avro replica in it’s current state ? ( Images courtesy of:- https://www.facebook.com/Lancaster-FM104-168591673179822/ ).
I know I joked about the Dux Beau will need to be restored if left to linger, but it has actually come to pass for this magnificent replica all that hard work
just wasted because the current custodians who promised so much failed big time…..:stupid:
From This.
Looks like a promising future!! (Courtesy of DH82EH)
To These sad images. I found this one via Google courtesy of:-[/B] https://torontosun.com/news/local-news/time-to-step-up-to-save-avro-arrow-replica

Replica of Canadian aviation’s iconic CF-105 “Avro Arrow” has been neglected by the ones who promised to keep her safe and protected. Yet they have
failed to do so. Let’s all get together and use power of social media to find this one of kind full scale metal replica of CF-105 “Arrow” a permanent home
for people to see her.
148 members of former Toronto Aerospace museum built her, I am one those members and have spent 4 years of my life building her.
She has been neglected for 4 years by former Canadian Air and Space Museum’s BOD team to find her permanent home. As you can see in these current
pictures, that her plastic shrink wrap has torn away and she is sitting in open elements! Rust has started to form on her as can be seen in these pictures
taken by Tom Podolec.
Let’s all share these pictures and put pressure on her guardians to find her a home where public can see and appreciate her for the reasons this
replica was created. (Picture credit: Tom Podolec)
Anyone who want to save this replica from the neglect should join it by “Liking” it. https://m.facebook.com/Avro-Arrow-Replica-Volunteers-25650…/
