Hi All,
The Odyssey 2016 I rather enjoyed this French/Belgian biopic about Jacques-Yves Cousteau especially some of the underwater scenes, be warned thought it’s 99% French language with subtitles and a smattering of English where appropriate, I always remember watching his films on Tv……
Starring:-Lambert Wilson,Pierre Niney,Ulysse Stein,Audrey Tautou,Laurent Lucas,Benjamin Lavernhe,Rafaël de Ferran,Vincent Heneine,
Thibault de Montalembert,Roger Van Hool,Chloé Hirschman,Adam Neill,Olivier Galfione,Martin Loizillon and Chloé Williams.
Thirty years in the life of Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau, the researcher, scientist, inventor, and filmmaker whose contributions made the general public more curious about the sea.

Hi All,
Loved the Tuskegee P-51c programme a credit to all that after two accidents the aircraft still flies as a true tribute to those pilots that are all to often never mentioned IMHO.
The JJ programme was fine apart from showing a Halifax construction line when banging on about Lancaster production early on, apart from that small error I enjoyed the programme.

Hi All,
Another couple of new originals from https://www.posart.com/originals
From Marks Faceache:-https://www.facebook.com/MarkPostlethwaiteGAvA
Two new small paintings just completed for forthcoming book covers. The first depicts a KG40 Ju88 shooting down a 304 Sqn Wellington over the Bay of
Biscay on 13 August 1943, (75 years ago tomorrow). This is for the cover of a forthcoming Osprey book on Ju88 Aces.
The second painting, ‘Blenheims over Borkum’ shows the first RAF fighter offensive operation of WWII when Blenheim MkIfs of 25 and 601 Squadrons attacked the seaplane base at Borkum on 28 November 1939. This is for the first in a new series of books ‘Modeller’s Photographic Archive’ which will be published by Red Kite in September.
Both paintings are now available for sale on the website and remember we’re still running the 10% discount offer until the end of August, just enter the code 19182018 at the checkout page for 10% off anything you order.

“BLOOD AND THUNDER”. – The story of a Hawker Hurricane…
HAWKER HURRICANE PROJECT. The first layout in pen and ink on canvas of this new painting. I want to portray the Hawker Hurricane as she truly was, a
formidable fighter at war in the hands of an expert. And of all the Hurricane units who fought so magnificently in the Battle Of Britain, none were more
deadly effective than 303 Squadron. This Polish Squadron, based at RAF Northolt, London from 2nd August 1940 after formation at Blackpool, along with
another 15 Polish Squadrons fighting for Britain, were initially confined to training flights and kept from flying operational combat sorties as a mistaken
belief formed, that, as an unknown foreign quantity, there would be grave risk with allocating valuable aircraft to them and mixing formations in battle
with British pilots when hardly a man of them could speak English.
But these Poles were already excellent, battle-hardened pilots proven from their experiences fighting as part of 7th Polish Air Escadrille in their homeland’s desperate air defence. As such, once Fighter Command relented under pressure of the course of the air fighting and ordered them fully operational, they
went into the fight against the Luftwaffe fearless and very hard, ruthlessly attacking every German fighter and bomber formation they could find, and
scored more kills against enemy aircraft than any other RAF fighter unit fighting in the Battle of Britain.
In one 42-day period alone, they accounted for 126 Luftwaffe aircraft shot down. They claimed an overall tally of over 200 Luftwaffe kills, but at a loss of
29 of their own fighter pilots. Facts so often overlooked in favour of homegrown British RAF Squadrons and aces. This particular Hurricane was a true
warrior of a fighter. No fewer than NINE aces with 303 Squadron flew her in action, including the top scoring 303 Sqn. ace Sgt. Joseph Frantisek
(17 victories) all of them scoring kills with her 8-gun battery.
Flown as the subject in this piece by 303 ace Sgt. Stanislaw Karubin who destroyed this Heinkel HE111 in a fast, low level combat over the south eastern
English countryside at Kent, one of seven victories he scored, four of them while flying this Hurricane during a period in the Battle of Britain. It is as much
a story about this one, particular aircraft and the incredible combat record of kills she accomplished, in the hands of her brilliant aces, as it is about
Sgt. Karubin’s kill on this day.
303 Squadron was commanded by an English RAF Officer, Wing Commander Ronald Gustave Kellett. An ace from 249 Sqn. early in the Battle he lead them throughout the summer campaign. Of them he wrote:- “We fought together through the great offensive of 1940. And I knew then, that the pilots of 303 Squadron were not only the best, but would see me through any troubles. In the month of September, 303 were on top. No Squadron from the Empire could equal the courage and skill of our pilots. No bombing could daunt our airmen”.
Of their magnificent air fighting record, Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park, AOC 11 Group said:- “Had it not been for the magnificent material
contributed by the Polish Squadrons and their unsurpassed gallentry, I would hesitate to say, the outcome of the Battle would have been the same.”

Hi All,
RIP to those who lost their life and ditto what DH82EH has put.
Geoff.
Hi All,
No matter what the condition of the aircraft just good to know that it has been retrieved, whether or not restored to fly or just displayed as is it will make
a fitting tribute to the pilot who lost his life. RIP Finn Thorstensen Sir.

Hi All,
Star Wars A New Hope/Empire Strikes Back/Return Of The Jedi Went to see A New Hope at the Theatre One in Coventry when it first came out. I
have to admit that A New Hope and Force Awakens are the only two I have watched at the cinema, however I have watched all others via VHS and Sky Cinema.
None the less still like them however The Last Jedi and Solo I am not really enthusiastic about with all the controversy surrounding them, still I am
prepared to give them a watch and put all that rubbish to one side and judge them for what they may be.
As for the book what I have read is a little different from the film (i.e. Darth Vader picks some hapless sole up by the neck then just drops him to the floor
in the film – In the book he flings him across the isle like a rag doll when he snapped his neck) Now I would have liked to have had that scene in the film
but as the films are family orientated when made that obviously would have been a bit over the top.

Hi All,
Ditto what Duggy has said, the prospect of seeing two Swordfish in the air together is quite a good step also but the general state of things at
Navy Wings is looking good for all concerned…..:applause:

Hi All,
Ditto above post…:eagerness:
Geoff.
Hi All,

recovery.

Hi All,
Long Walk To Freedom 2014 (Via BBCi available until 20/08) A really good well acted Biopic film IMPO. I don’t know how true to life the film
was apart from the obvious bits that are forever imprinted on most peoples minds i.e. His name/A Revolutionary opponent of apartheid/Campaigner for equality/Leader of the ANC/Wembley concert/The Song Nelson Mandela (By the Specials a Coventry band 😎 ) and of coarse known for his marriage to Winnie/Eventual president of Sth Africa and lastly but not least the latest conspiracy that is the Mandela effect.
Starring:-Idris Elba,(Siza Pini – Mandela (age 7–9),Atandwa Kani – Mandela (age 16–23),Naomie Harris,Tony Kgoroge,S’Thandiwe Kgoroge,Riaad Moosa,Zolani Mkiva,Simo Mogwaza,Tshallo Sputla Chokwe,Fana Mokoena,James Cunningham,Thapelo Mokoena,Jamie Bartlett,Deon Lotz,Terry Pheto,
Sello Maake,Gys de Villiers,Zenzo Ngqobe,Carl Beukes,A.J. van der Merwe,Nomfusi Gotyana,Andre Jacobs,Louis van Niekerk,Adam Neill,
Lindiwe Matshikiza,Refilwe Charles,Semuhle Shangasi,Khumbuzile Maphumulo and John Herbert.
The remarkable life of South African revolutionary, president and world icon Nelson Mandela (Idris Elba) takes center stage. Though he had humble
beginnings as a herd boy in a rural village, Mandela became involved in the anti-apartheid movement and co-founded the African National Congress Youth
League. His activities eventually led to his imprisonment on Robben Island from 1964 to 1990. In 1994, Mandela became the first president of democratic
South Africa.

Hi All,
Bunsen Honeydew – Good on you matey never hurts to understand other faiths more deeply I dare say that many different faiths could learn from each other rather than promoting and insisting they’re version is the one true faith even then within they’re own faith they are usually split into subdivisions
thinking the exact same thing maybe the world would be a better place if everyone did this ?…..:eagerness:
One chapter into:- It’s Been Emotional British actor and professional footballer, Vinnie Jones is the original bad boy made good and will tell the full extraordinary rags to riches story for the first time – the brilliance on the pitch, the brawls and drinking off the pitch, the arrests, the affairs, his wife’s dramatic health scare and his latest headline scandal with a Russian prostitute. Bold and frank, this is Vinnie laid bare.
Born and bred in Watford, Jones represented and captained the Welsh national football team after qualifying through a Welsh grandparent. He won the
1988 FA Cup final against Liverpool before moving to Wimbledon and then Leeds United. He has also played for Chelsea. His celebrity status has grown
over the years after appearing in the 2010 series of Big Brother and coming third, as well as the hugely successful British Heart Foundation CPR campaign.
Vinnie’s bad boy tag has followed him into the world of film where he has used his hard man status to secure roles in hugely successful Brit Flicks, such as Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Hi All,
hampden98 – Stunned by that matey still it’s just like SKY Cinema all over not to have crackers play like Turner. I imagine it’s down to they’re
algorithms ? Imean the films they advertised as the most popular for instance and Returning favourites are full of low budget stuff with a sprinkling of
noticeable hits.
Films I would really like to see are Child 42/Arrival/Legend as examples but they have not had a sniff at being shown in the premier section only available
in the SKY Store. I refuse to pay extra to watch a film when you already pay a monthly subscription to that channel. I suppose they have your arm up
your back to a certain degree but I can see why some are drifting away using other streaming services or scouring charity shops.
To be honest I would be streaming elsewhere but as I am housebound with agoraphobia the money I save Not going out/No holidays etc.etc. lets me have
SKY so really it balances itself out but it is very frustrating that SKY do not stream all the popular releases through the premier section.

Hi All,
I agree with Chad Veich the first thing that struck me was how well the airframe looked, just hope they can get the restoration to conserve it as soon
as they get it back to wherever, Well done all…..:eagerness:
