Very,very sad news at the passing of the great professor Stephen Hawking. He was and will the inspiration for many wanting to explore in the scientific
world,he has overcome the odds of his ALS and I for one wish I had the tiniest fraction of his courage in life that he had to shine through adversity.

The brightest star among many has shone it’s last.RIP Mr Hawking.

A fitting tribute I think.

So if you believe the facts as written in the link in post (12) and take into account facts that where given in post (16) what we are looking at is this:-

A 23yr old Drunk who possibly had also been using drugs ? Was brought back to the base between in the wee Hrs of 12.am & 5.am. much worse for wear,
so much so the MP’s had to put him to bed, suddenly he woke up and jumped into the cockpit and took off in a Hercules ? This on one of the UK’s most
highly guarded airbases during a US war footing alert state something just doesn’t add up IMPO.

Sunset 22nd May 1969 was 21:05 and Sunrise the 23rd was 05:00 that is in my local area according to Google so you could give or take a few
minutes either way ? What stands out to me is that from my own experience in the past a heavy night of drinking a few hours later and your still under
the affects from that alcohol. Then if you add possible drugs into the equation I can’t see him walking straight let alone preparing for take off then proceeding surely during the wind up for flight it would take a few minutes then to trundle to a runway for that take off another few minutes ?

Why no attempt to put a vehicle in it path as it was crawling along the track to the runway or indeed why no attempt to stop it while it was winding up on the apron ? I don’t have a clue what you would do to start up all four engines and do basic checks but I imagine it’s not a quick glance over the
instruments then your OK to take off ?

Not only the above but like I said the base I imagine was basically on a war footing as the Vietnam war was in full swing in ’69’ and that would have meant all aircraft are guarded No ? Here’s a theory maybe it was a spy who managed to get this Hercules out of Mildenhall and the airman could have been coerced into helping ? I imagine the US at that time would never have wanted it known that a top security base had been infiltrated and an asset
knicked so just put a cover story up ?? After all it wouldn’t be the first would it even if for security purposes but now 50yrs on the truth should be made public surely ? I think the military at times underestimate the publics forgiveness after all we are all human and we all drop the ball sometime….:rolleyes:

I don’t know and I sound like a conspiracy theorist but it just seems a little iffy that someone who was legless a few hours before where he couldn’t put
himself to bed could start up and fly an aircraft that was at the time quite still an advanced transport for the time…:confused:

Hidden Figures 2016 (Via SKY Cinema) An excellent drama based on the true achievements by three women (Among many) that where the unsung
heroes of the US Space race having not only to put up with racism but sexism in a male dominated theatre of work. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would
recommend it to anybody interested in the space race for a peak through the curtain of what is rarely mentioned, except when brought to life in films such
as this. Not only that a good soundtrack and plenty of American cars from the 50’s and the 60’s…..:cool:
