Appreciate that. ’nuff said, I think. Thanks, Meddle.

You amaze me! Quite happy to flavour my language on occasion but, frankly, that one I neither use nor tolerate. Offensive? It’s off the scale.

Meddle…..Pretty broadminded, me…..have to be, I work with the general public. I can understand if not agree with a lot of what you say but did you really have to use that word at the end of your first paragraph. Not great.

Forgive the slight drift, but thanks for the nostalgic box art. I seem to recall that it was, by the standards of it’s day, a very nice kit.

Can’t tell you anything about the aircraft, but I do remember building the Airfix Marauder back in the 1970’s and it was decalled as this example.

Steady, Linc! Using one’s brains is discouraged y’know.
It’s interesting that similar forms designed by those that use them, (my colleagues), have bigger boxes. Ones from central government don’t. (And please don’t start me on those occasions when even I can see that what I am saying is nonsensical….times like that are enough to give me a nervous breakdown; but rules is rules…so I am informed!). In the end I thank goodness that retirement is now but a decade away.

Not necessarily a defence of ‘jobsworths’, but those teeny boxes are scanned by a computer…..if the tick/signature infringes on the limit of the box then the computer throws up it’s hands and sulks. My own experience is in accepting DBS (what we used to call Criminal Records checks) forms. If they aren’t acceptable then the applicant has to fill in a new one and we are not supposed to do it for him/her. The office record stands at six spoiled forms before pity was taken and the form filled in on the customer’s behalf! (Me, I’m a soft touch; my humanity switch kicks in a mite sooner than that but then, in this company I would say that, wouldn’t I? ).

Must agree with Rob here. I do not believe that anybody would wish to see explicit images or read sensationalist prose in a magazine like Flypast but to limit the coverage to the tiny paragraph deep inside the edition seems a little bit as though the editor was hoping the accident would go away if no comment was made upon it. Yes, the readership of an aviation periodical would know all about this ghastly tragedy but a properly worded item expressing correct condolence and stating, perhaps, that unlike the tabloid media, Flypast would refrain from further comment until the appropriate reports had been published would not have gone amiss

Fabulous photos; jet carrier operations really fascinate me and thanks for posting. One point though, the aircraft captioned ‘Attacker’ is actually a Scimitar.
