Sure have 🙂
Thanks everyone 🙂
Beaufighter VI – I will try Hendon again and see what happens. There certainly must have been ones issued (and to confuse it all some of the NAA archives switch between describing the DAP21 and BD43A, and the cockpit layouts are different too – both Australian though) Moorabbin certainly does not appear to have it as that’s where the Beaufort one is. Will try the Narellan museum again, but they were not sure where anything was when I last contacted them. Same with HARS…. and I did try and get plans etc under FOI but was told they were probably in deep storage somewhere and no-one knew 😡
aircraftclocks – thanks for the links. I have the panel layout files (in fact I have the large image of the layout on order) but the other one I had not seen. Thats a start and thats what counts.
Thanks for that aircraftclocks.
Unfortunately every one of the manuals listed around the internet of the AP1721 A, F & J only contain volume one 🙁 I have a copy already, and the volume that lists the schedule of spare parts according to the tree diagram in this manual is Volume 3. This will be the one I am chasing…
Volume one contains very few actual numbers – some good pics though ! The Beaufort one was phenomenal as it had detailed photos of items at end of each section with a cross referenced page number and part number which then in turn had descriptions etc etc. Massive book, nearly two feet across and a couple of inches thick, leather bound with leather strap tie.
I’ve always been led to believe the undercarriage legs were slightly different, just on the tops mainly ( nearly got caught out when collecting the legs as they were next to each other !)
There are also other obvious differences in relation to the engines etc – I recently acquired a number of cowl gills thinking they were the Beaufighter but when checking against a real aircraft it was clear they were Beaufort only. Same for the hand pump 🙂 Oh well, at least I have collected them regardless ..
In a perfect world it would be great to be able to have the parts lists side by side and do a comparison. Surely not all the parts books have been lost (they look so good with the leather strap and binding too) but I guess i have to be content with the knowledge at least that many parts were used on both aircraft
Brilliant – thanks a bunch for that, I can keep adding to my growing Beaufighter pile quite happily then 🙂
Oh I see 😀 type in a word that has naughty connotations and it gets asterisked out  I’m sure you know what part I am referring to anyway !
Really appreciate the help on this as its sometimes hard doing an ID on certain things when clearing an estate 🙂
Pictures !
Thanks as always – I may have made a boo-boo here – should have read AH 388/2. Does that make a difference not having the letter O?
Only reason I ask is that looking at what pictures I could find on the web of the Dragon wheel, it appears to be dual brake drum whereas this wheel is single brake drum – if that makes sense (I’m still learning the terms etc)
Percival I am unsure of as I think we only had one over here and that crashed much further north…
So I should put up some pics eh ? Should have done that first
But here you go – clickable thumbs so you can see all the numbers
Yeah don’t think we have Puma helicopters here 🙂 It was acquired originally from an RAAF auction after WW2…not that that narrows it down much !
Thats great, a good start, now all I have to do is try and figure out which aircraft it was from !
I did find under a lot of gunk that it is a type C Cupola but there is no date in the date section 🙁
Given my inexperience with these things I can only narrow it down to a few aircraft being maybe Anson or Hudson, but will keep hunting it down. Many thanks for your help !
We are getting closer, apparently part of the rear fuselage.
Is anyone able to provide a serial number for this aircraft based on the stamp in the photo – that would be fantastic !
 Should have looked at the parts list elsewhere on the forum – so its Anson, but what is the actual part I have here ?
Cheers
Ewan
That was the highlight of the night over here – it looked and sounded awesome 🙂 Good to see the onboard footage too
Is that the one up near Dubbo (or Wagga – can’t remember which !)
Mark ,that is exactly the same eMail as I received this morning at “Hampshire Airfields”…I thought it all sounded a bit too good to be true!
I think I’ll give his little logo a miss.
BTW his selections are quite diverse…check out his 100 list and some of the listed sites …eg; 34 & 38 this page……
http://www.bestaviationsites.com/Maybe he should check out his choices a little better first!
🙂
Yes those are very aviation related :diablo::p:diablo:
