I only saw WM167 (or indeed any Meteor) fly once, at the Kemble Air Show in 2011. The bill also featured Vulcan XH558, a JP5, a Gnat, the Venom FB6 also now at Bruntingthorpe, and now fewer than eight Hunters, which finished the show in formation.a
I have a great deal of respect for the team at Bruntingthorpe, and more power to their arms for keeping all these wonderful machines live, but isn’t it a crying shame that the airworthy historic jet scene as shrunk so much in such a short time? Can’t help thinking I’ll never see another Meteor fly, unless I can haul myself to the Antipodes or USA…

Wonderful! Coastal scheme is spot on, or at least it will be when it’s a bit more weathered and stained 🙂
Hats off to them, they’ve not only turned out three Mossies but managed to represent most of the schemes the fighter-bomber types wore – just need the SEAC and post-war versions now!

Well I’m excited! It’s hard to imagine a more potent and chilling airshow act anywhere than a Stuka diving, with siren going. I hope FHC demonstrate it properly, a near vertical dive, even if just once. Can’t wait!

Hmmm rockets and D-day stripes. Hopefully a fine Coastal Command scheme!

For the sake of Sabrejet, this is Westland Wessex HU.5 XT761, which is one of two aircraft owned by Andrew Whitehouse somewhere near Crewkerne, Somerset, under the project name “Navy Wessex”. I believe the same guy owns the Whirlwind HAR.10 XJ729 which has been rattling around the airshow circuit for a couple of years now. Navy Wessex is affiliated with Navy Wings, the umbrella organisation which has taken on the old RNHF aircraft. Quite exciting for me as I’m too young to have seen a Wessex fly in service!

Thanks for the update Adrian – now, perhaps worth putting this thread on ice for a bit?

Spitfire IX MH415/DV-G and MH603/FN-B, for those without the benefit of Farcebook!
On a related note, anyone know the origin/ID of the ex-Canadian Hurricane now flying in Aus? The fin makes a brief appearance in the photo set Daz posted, and I’ve seen photos of it elsewhere too…

Hard to imagine we’d have an airworthy original FW190 and IL-2 by now if not for Paul Allen – RIP…

I must say I’m a little bemused by the rationale too, but hey, it’s getting another one airworthy, and I’m absolutely captivated by the CGI renderings they’re using. No idea who the artist is, but they’re the most convincing I’ve ever seen, by a country mile.
Hopefully this link to one of them posted on FB:

Thanks for th update Blue – and sorry the forum update’s been giving you so much grief! You’re making grand progress on the actual Meteor fettling, and I shall retire to Faecesbook to enjoy the subsequent results!

I believe the wheel covers were often removed in active service, particularly by units in France?

And now a Morane-Saulnier Alcyon, and a Beech 18 also headed SW! Not bad for Reading…

Nice! Just had an Auster AOP6 or AOP9 go over East Reading headed SW, preceeded by an odd light aircraft that I thought might have been a “toy” scale Fw190 replica
