Definitely! I’d love one day to see a Flying Legends sequence simulating an early-war mission in the Med, with the Blenheim and two Lysanders being attacked by the 109e and CR42, with two Gladiators and a flight or two of Hurricanes beating them off. What a sight that would be! (Oh, and throw in Swordfish W5856 for good measure…)
A Lysander-related question which has been bothering me for a while – what on earth are the two tiny windows at the base of the fin for? Oblique camera? They surely can’t be for the observer, who has a much better view from the rear cockpit and would play merry havoc with the CoG crawling all the way back there…
Cheers!
Only getting a 404 “not found” error for both links – try posting the original story in Norwegian?
Shiny new canopy glass?
Very sad news, never got to meet him sadly, but together with Tom Neil what a wonderful, modest representative of the Few. Just dug out First Light to read again, in his honour. One of the finest memoirs on war flying that I know.
Blue skies sir!
Well that was under the radar – I’d completely forgotten that ARCO had one and had no idea that it was being actively restored!
I suppose a stealthy approach to completion is quite apt for a Lysander, really!
Excellent stuff guys, great to see the rudder coming back together! I’m consistently impressed both by your work and by the generosity of forumites in dredging up spare parts for you – what a community effort! 🙂
Must say I’m hoping for the Biggin Hill 109e…
Thanks DCW for the Victor update. Does anyone know if the laser paint removal trial was a success, i.e. is that method the one they’re still using?
They really are churning them out! I presume this is another ex-Connie Edwards machine?
It seems to me that a ~2 year wait after completion of a type “new” to the UK register, to allow the paperwork to catch up is pretty frequent. Witness the Fury I (which was ages from completion to display debut) and the current lull with the Biggin Hill 109e. Patience is the order of the day I think!
Me too! I also head straight here of a weekend (or the FB feed) to check on your guys’ progress 🙂
Heard a distinctly radial growl over East Reading half an hour ago, looked out of the window to see a civil-schemed DHC Beaver headed SW – anyone know which?
It’s a rather fab little replica!
