Very similar in composition and use of clouds to some of the superb Dibbs shots of P9374 from last year. What stunning images!
If I recall correctly it was built from a collection of small parts recovered from various Dutch wreck sites, which were attached to a reproduction frame to create a cosmetically accurate Bf109.
Some seriously dedicated work has gone on here, I think we can all thank the ARIDO team for helping to put some closure on the Copping story. Hopefully ths pilot’s remains will be duly repatriated for a more proper burial closer to home.
The top one is. And bear in mind we can’t see the tips!
One has recently gone to Norway, think this is the Retro Track and Air example. Recent picture at http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Jet-Age-Museum/100374323379961, scroll down and find the post from 30th May.
I guess as the Fury still hasn’t flown it will be static only?
It’ll be good to see the Swordfish, which I don’t think I’ve ever seen fly. Hopefully P9374 will put in an appearance as well.
To think I’d forgotten about this one! What a beauty!
Is that salt water? If so that is absolutely amazing!
Certainly put the corroded pile of He219 parts from last month into perspective.
It would make a lovely static exhibit for the IWM (although I struggle to see how it fits into any of their exhibitions and collections). How complete is it? Obviously it’s gutted internally, but are there any wings/engine/cowlings in storage, for instance?
RIP. It seems, and must have seemed then, an incredibly long way away, but at the moment my thoughts are frequently with the brave men in the Falklands campaign.
Or “Pick your own” crashed P-40 with panels and instruments free for the kids to take away?
Wish I could be there to see it! Andy, do you know what P9374’s flying schedule is this year? I am most looking forward to hopefully seeing it at Flying Legends, especially if it flies.
I’m going and looking forward to it immensely, about the only thing keeping me going through my university exams is the prospect of lounging on the grass at Old Warden in a couple of weeks’ time!
Some nice shots there.
AB910 looks super in the new paint job, and with “proper” Mk.Vb exhaust stubs. Just a shame they haven’t got a spare Rotol three-blader to replace the Mk. IX-style prop:to me that would just complete the look perfectly.
