If the Victor looked slightly less of a mess they might be content to advertise “dine in style next the the V-bomber”!
Thanks Abadonna and –o-o-O-o-o–, any pictures are helpful!
Martin, thanks also; your inbox is full though!
Can I please second Pagen’s request? I am about to start on a model of the Javelin and have been similarly stumped for the Observer/Radar operator position.
Quite a surprise! That would indeed look fantastic sat on the grass/tussling with the Buchons at Duxford, we can but hope!
I can certainly recommend getting in the cockpit of Newark’s Vulcan; I did so earlier this year with the kind assistance of Howard (TwinOtter23) and found it a very moving and thought-provoking experience.
Something I also do!
Apart from the “mobile” XH558, I’ve managed to see XM594 at Newark, XM598 at Cosford, XL318 at Hendon, XJ824 at Duxford, plus fleeting views from the car of XL360 at Coventry and XL319 at NEAM (I was often being driven by my parents who are not fully appreciative of the need to stop and examine each Vulcan!)
Quite a few left to go though…
I’m no expert, but if the attachment was at an angle, could it be that the u/c retraction cycle involved a twisting motion of the undercarriage leg? If this is so, and it’s painted yellow, how about an RAF Harvard?
I hadn’t seen that one, thanks! There’s some fantastic stuff on there.
Of those I have visited, I’d say Shuttleworth, Newark, Hendon and Duxford are “musts” with Cosford and Yeovilton just behind. However, there are such a number and variety of fine air museums in Britain one is really spoilt for choice. There are many, like Airbase and Midland, that I’ve yet to visit and one day look forward to doing so…
Interesting stuff, I hadn’t heard of there being anything surviving.
If a rebuild had occurred, would it really have been cleared to fly by the CAA? Wasn’t the type a bit of a death trap?
Could have been a Fisher-Price toy one?

Some fabulous shots there, the one of the B17 turret/cockpit glazing is superb. Interesting to see traces of the old civil registration(?) on the wings of Mary Alice…

What I want to know is, why is it in camouflage pattern, and what colours would they have been?!
