Its KNAAPO. That plant finished chinese contracts and was short of orders. Now it have time to wait for next big chinese contract.

Didn’t they win the bid in Algeria aswell?

Well give it any name or cliche but the fact remains that these are still enemies which want to kill me , my family or who so ever..Call it movements , freedom fighters , legitimate gorrila pseudo govts. or whatever given an oppoturnity they’d like to kill americans which makes them my enemies therefore for me the branding hardly matters. Actually these ******s want to be called islamist terrorists by the west and want the west to use the word JEHAD so that they can enlist more people for the cause and the western media seems to be playing into their hands a bit. For one we should all start calling them plain and simple killers or militants .

Yes, anyone who legitimatly targets civilians is a terrorist. I just think its wrong as some have labeled Venezuela terrorists, or Chavez as terrorist.

Fact is though the Columbian government is responsible for more bloodshed than FARC. Besides they are a rebel movement, classifying every enemy as terrorists these days is getting silly.

Which Su-30s are being supplied to Venezuela?
Between Irkutsk and Komsomolsk, I would guess Irkutsk. They compete against eachother in bids, Which is kind of silly in a way.

There’s a video out there somewhere of an OVT doing the craziest things a fighter jet has ever done in terms of aerial manoeuvers. In terms of fighter jets, it beats everything, including the Su-37.

Definently dont want to dogfight with that thing if it ever comes to that. But then you probably wouldent want to dogfight with a mig-29A either.

Whats the radar specs on the OVT, and the so called Mig-35 or are they the same?

What Canada needs is a larger navy of patrol class frigates to secure its waters, especially from those pesky foreign fishing vessels depleting our stocks. The Halfiax class frigates can perform various roles, we really just don’t have nearly enough of them. The Sea King helo severly limits its capabilities however. We should also look into new destroyers.

Having Escort carriers or ships in the same class is a long way off for Canada though.

I’m glad though the current government(which Im not particularly fond of)
is not selling our logistical support short.

The DND should look to purchase new MBT’s, there is no way our Leo’s will match up against modern armor in a future conflict. Also, we need a long range multi-role fighter to replace our Cf-18’s. They don’t have the range to operate in such a vast country with our limited airbases.

I see little reason to rename it the lightning II, personally anything with “2” in it seems ugly. Let the historical planes keep their name.

And that’s the irony. Russia is doing everything they can to build China a better military and that’s going to come back to bite them in the a$$ in a big, BIG way. Sure Russia has nukes but so does China and Russia knows if it nukes China it’ll be nuked itself so you’ll eventually see China taking bites out of the Russian far east and Russia impotent to do anything about it. Hey maybe they could complain to the U.N. LOL!!

Right in fantasy land. Then Canada will invade Denmark and Poland will annex Mexico, The Swiss will invade italy In the name of defense first, and Luxembourg will enslave Germany.

I read it in a book.

Su-30 is a great plane, Despite all the attention that Chavez gets in the American media, all he has done really has bought new weapons. He hasn’t attacked anyone.

His comments toward the current US administration are very understandable, by the fact they supported a coup to overthrow him which failed. I think anyone would be bitter about that.

Some may claim that he intends to send weapons to FARC in Columbia. The fact is though the FARC guirillas are already one of the largest and best equipped private armies in the world, and they have huge amounts of money from drug trade.

If the Columbian government fails, it is its own doing by the fact they have damaged their reputation among their own people, they are just as corrupt as the druglords themselves. They would have already fallen if not for US support. Its actually a big money hole for US taxpayers considering the way the war on drugs has failed. Which is the prime reason for US financial aid and training.

Have any idea what supply ships the navy is looking to purchase? Will they be assembled in Halifax?

From what I know we only have one supply/refuel ship.

Flying helos in combat zones is dangerous business. The rotar assemblies are delicate and the tail is usually unarmored and fragile. Once the engine goes or you go into a uncontrollable spin. It is much harder to survive a crashlanding compared to aircraft.

The mountians in afghanistan are perfect for ambushing aircraft with stingers or even AAA. Which they did. Luckily for the Americans most if not all stinger missles were used by the time they invaded, and the Taliban had taken a beating from the Northern Alliance.

I used the country names as a blanket attempt to prove a point. Find me a French, Canadian, or German company that is banned from trading in the US since they traded with Iraq.

Try this though, If Canadian companies export to Cuba, whatever goods they may be. The US will ban those Canadian products exported to the US. Which is where most of Canada’s export revenue is earned.

So even if Canada tried to help Cuba (and Cuba does need trade badly) private companies would lose so much money it would not even be worth it.
