Watched it last night and now puzzled over the method of propulsion in an environment with zero atmosphere and while on the subject is the olive drab colour on the Daleks correct for the period, looked just a tiny shade too dark but it could have been the studio lighting.
I am sure that the scientist character was encouraged to use his Dalek knowledge and came up with a kind of anti gravity bubbles. It was in these bubbles that the spitfires were able to fly.
I did wonder how long the oxygen would have lasted with the merlin using it up? I thought the did fire bullets not lasers.
I was dissapointed that they didnt use the upgrade of the daleks to get rid of the sink plunger and replace it with at least a mechanical arm.
His new assistant could be the new Sarah Jane who was extremely sexy without resorting to being scantily clad. Well I thought so anyway.
Finally I prefered the old style doctors like Ton Baker , Jon Pertwee and the one who wore the blazers oh and the one who had the long scarfs as a trademark. I liked the brigadeer too.
Sorry I was only going to write couple of lines and got carried away.

This is one of the books I couldn’t put down as well.
This was years ago. There is a line where the instructor says” well we will just have to find smaller and smaller fields” in answer to Robert’s question about perfecting his landings. (actually I may remember that slightly wrong, perhaps someone will correct it.) Anyway it made me laugh out loud.
Thanks Ian,
I had tried a couple of things but they didnt work as I wanted.

How do I break up a quote into segments so that I can add my twopenneth worth adjacent to the relevant bit please?

That’s the most useless and pathetic comeback I’ve ever read. Can you actually answer the question as to why he doesn’t sort out a very screwed up world or not?
I ask again where or when you want him to interfere. The obvious choice would be to stamp on the bombers the ieds manufacturers etc. But what about the people who sell the arms and explosives? should they be stamped on too?
Somethings are not easy to answer from our viewpoint.
But because God is not behaving as we think a God should, does not prove that he is not there. Better men than I have pondered these questions for thousands of years. What chance is there that I could answer it?
I can only say how I feel, and so long as people continue to discuss these things and do not come down with a rigid enforcemant iether way may be one day we will find the answer.
I do feel that each of us can only do our part in promoting love of fellow man, and pray for freind and enemies alike. Because you can see the alternative every night on our TV screens and in the papers.

A rigger friend of mine has a great story from when he was setting up for a concert at a large church here in Bradford. He put some lights on the truss over the stage and asked the house guys to put safetys on them (little chains that keep the fixture on the truss if the main coupling fails). They refused, saying “we don’t need them, we believe in angels”. My friends response:- ‘I believe in gravity, now put the ****ing safetys on”.
Kind of sums blind faith over sense, logic and physics quite well to me!
So how do you work that out then? What evidence is there to back that up? I realise the futility of asking someone so deeply brainwashed by this whole thing such a question because you’ll just twist the point into something else largely illogical and convince yourself you’re right and everyone who disagrees is wrong, but I’ll try anyway. If you can convince me God exists and can improve and enrich my life then I’ll happily go along with it. However, if God created this beautiful world then he kinda screwed it up didn’t he? I mean, we hurt each other, we steal from each other, we murder each other, we make weapons of mass destruction and use them every once in a while… Was this all a part of God’s plan? Is this the whole ‘he’s testing our faith’ thing? I just don’t buy it.
Take two different people, person A is religious fanatic who uses their faith/belief as a reason to cause harm to those who don’t believe the same as him. He sees anyone not believing in the same God as him as an inferior being who doesn’t have the right to exist, and therefore must be exterminated (and plenty of these people exist). Now, person B, who tries to lead a good life, helps others as much as he can, has never stolen anything in his life and is an all round general nice guy but has no belief in a God whatsoever. In the eyes of the almighty, who’s the greater person? Person A for being a believer or person B for not being a tosser?
Well, the brainwash goes like this:
We are created free thinking beings. As apposed to the animals which are programmed to behave in a certain way – instinct – although some animals have to learn from their parents to do certain things – perhaps they have free will but without the oppsom(?)thum are stuck.
Anyway we are free to choose what we want to do. we can drink our selves stupid, we can take any theory and use it to justifie any behaviour. we can shoot people, blow them up especialy if we are trained to view them as less than us.
These actions do not disprove the existance of God. In fact in the old testament it is recorded that God used these traits to remove the sinfull nations that the isralites met in the promised land.
But they didn’t follow Gods plan to the letter in fact they mostley didn’t follow Gods instructions at all.
Therefore after many many years God sent Jesus who was to die as a sacrifice for all mankinds sins. Before this animal sacrifices were ordered.
Jesus spelt out the Law in closer detail eg Thou shalt not Kill Jesus expanded to do not loose your temper with people, etc. As ever people ignored this and made excuses to continue as they had always done. and so it goes on.
Why doesn’t God interfear? where and when would you like him to interfear?
remove the military aircraft we love to watch? Stop the drink driver having too much to drink? Stop the MP claiming rediculous items as expences?
Once he interfeared we would loose our freedom. We would become automatons. God wants us to follow him of our own free will.
As to why he set it up this way the brain wash doesn’t cover. Well it probably does but I havn’t been enlightened on that part yet. I will keep on searching.
As to your last sentence who is the greater person? “the one who does the father will”

Recite your pre-flight checks and all shall be forgiven
Collect key,
walk to aircraft,
walk around the aircraft checking there’s nothing hanging of,
phisically check free movement of flaps,
check there’s nothing attached that shouldn’t be.
Check propellor(s) are in good condition and are not chipped.
(memo to self are they supposed to be warped?)
kick tyres.
open door and climb in
CHECK CD have current favs and is connected to stereo head phones.
check fuel gauge
start up and fly off!
is this OK?

[QUOTE=Stuart H;1559542]Well, if you want to be pedantic I said, off the top of my head and without looking up Wikipedia, ‘probably in Hebrew’. My mistake.
If you think that invalidates my argument I’d suggest what you say just added several more layers of translation and thus opportunities for mistakes and deliberate mistranslations.
I would ask a question – If you felt the need to write a history of an aircraft, because you felt that a proper history had not been written and you were passionate about this particular aircraft. You would do your utmost to gather as much info as poss, even talk to vets who had flown it. Then you would collate all this info and cross check everything you could, because you were passionate and loved this ‘plane. Now what would you do with evidence that contradicted your view of this ‘plane? Yes OK some would alter bits, but would you?
Now given that the men who translated the Bible, men like Tyndale who went back to the original greek and hebrew, and who were passionate and loved the truth. They also knew they were facing torture and death if caught translating the Bible into English. Do you think they would have knowingly written falshoods and myths and allowed mistakes to creep in?
Would you writing your history of an areoplane?
You could correctly say this does not prove there is a God and you may think these men were misguided, but please spare a thought for the men who took great risks to bring us a Bible in English.
The sad thing is it was the established church at the time that was doing the persecuting because it thought it was preserving the truth – or was it corrupt?
