When I met her, she was in an unhappy relationship with a rather controlling boyfriend…the old “I decide who your friends are” type. I didn’t get with her for a while once she ended it with him, however I do believe I was a big part of that decision.

She probably latched on to you, although you may not of realised it. You was probably great emotional support for her and she built a bond with you, unfortunately it wasnt good enough from her side to really form as strong a relationship that you thought you had. Thats not your fault though, thats hers. She obviously didn’t work hard enough within the relationship and just opted for the grass is greener theory (which is total rubbish by the way)
On the up side you have met your new partner and it sounds like you two are happy and well bonded together. Karma works in mysterious ways, they say.

I doubt she’d ever confess why she did it, even if you was still friends. Why? I dont know really. Maybe guilt, maybe just a lazy attitude and cant be bothered. Im not really sure.
My ex left me back in january telling me it wasnt working out and then ended up in her mates bed a few days later (her mate had become single a week before we broke up, he was my ex’s former friend with benefits long before I met her and he then said he liked her when he became single) and going official with their relationship shortly after. Now my ex stuck to her story that she left me because things werent working out but with the following outcome between her and her friend I somehow doubt ‘things just didnt work out’ :rolleyes:

Point is that some people lie and for some reason think that by withhelding the truth they are either saving themselves your anger/upset or doing you a favour. I honestly think that honesty is best and your ex did tell you she cheated, the trouble is she failed to give you a reason why and this causes such self doubt. I went through that with my ex too where I wondered if it was me as she used to call me amazing and the best boyfriend ever etc but I came to the realisation that it probably wasnt me that was the problem. My ex was sexually abused as a child, her current boyfriend (the one mentioned above) seems to be more into her sexually than anything else and as my friends pointed out, its what she is used to and even now she is an adult she obviously is going back to what is familar. Since getting with that guy she has cut me out of her life.

Overall sometimes you have to just sit back and think that you didnt necessarily do wrong, its just that the problem was with your ex, whatever that problem maybe is of no real concern to you because she is the one with the issue and took it upon herself to make a poor decision and ruined alot in the process. Dont be so worried about it. I believe you say you have a new relationship now and you are happy and thats great 🙂
