S-duct is a compromise instead of any advantage in aerodynamic. But it’s necessary for the sake of stealth.

Yes, Sukhoi may have tech demo that features s duct while the PAk-FA doesn’t. But tech demo is as the name suggested, it doesn’t come any closer to a real a/c deployed.

Yanks’ 1st gen stealthy combat A/Cs all favor radar blocked. F117 being the famous one. But the current stealthy designs all abandon such blocker but prefer s duct. I think this phenomena probably gives better insight.

Again, emile’s impressionistic drawing overlay of J20 & F22 wrongly put the vertical fins of BOTH J20 & f22 at the same height, the therefore mistake of length is obvious.

Su-35 is 22m. but it has this elongated tail and nose.
The nose of J-20 is not shorter than Su-35 and length of cockpit glass is far longer than J-10/Su-35. Everything is just too big in J-20 from fatter front to big canards. with small relatively small wings.
There will be alot of weight and drag penalty for structure carrying internal weopons & wide frontal. and who knows steatlh paint will add more weight.
so i bit skeptical it will get certified in current form.

you can barely see the pilot head. thats how much deep is the cockpit.

    http://indrus.in/assets/images/2011-08/medium/AP_J20_468.jpg

J-20 is not less than 22m for sure.

Well, if the comment could be more substantial and assessable, it will be more positive, the Su35 has a quite tall vertical fin makes its length less abrupt, or obvious. However, besides the usual talk based on impression, there’s nothing you can change the J20’s length no more than 21m. Only your impression makes you sure the J20’s length is no less than 22m

Another clear confirmation of J20’s length:

Taking the background building as the reference, The J10B’s length is about 80% of that of J20
    J10B is about 16.45m. ( assuming it’s as long as J10A), then the J20 is 20.6m, or roughly 21m

Up to date, multiple reliable measurements have agreed to one length of J20 that’s 20.5 -21m. The facts speak themselves. Hope it can put the end of meanless argument that J20 is super long at 23m etc etc.

Talking abt Advanced Aviation engine for marine & power generation application. not only WS-10 core is being used for that purpose, but also China has introduced or is introducing foreign technologies in this area. China has indigenized Ukraine GT-25000 gas turbines, The QD/QC-185 QD70 series are based on WS-10 core. and now, GE is eyeing the big pie and going to introduce its LM2500+G4 and other models to China market.

China will promote the introduction of major LM2500 gas turbine equipment manufacturing

2011-08-30 07:00:12 – Xinzhuang Industrial Zone, the official website announced on August 23, China Huadian Corporation and the U.S. General Electric Company modified gas turbine aircraft joint venture industrial zone located in Xinzhuang signing ceremony held at the Xing Guo Hotel.

Relevant ministries, the vice mayor of Shanghai Ai Baojun, general manager of cloud citizens Huadian Corporation, GE’s global vice president, president of China, Hutchinson, Minhang District Secretary Chao Sun, Chang Mo negative spring, Deputy Mayor Cheng to the people, Xin Zhuang Industrial Zone Party committee secretary Wang military equipment, Chen Jianping, deputy director of the CMC and other leaders and guests attended the signing ceremony.

At the signing ceremony, the People’s Government of Minhang District, Shanghai, Huadian Engineering Co., distributed energy, General Electric (China) Limited, Shanghai Xin Zhuang Industrial Zone Economic Development Co., Ltd. signed the “GE aircraft modified on Huadian gas turbine project cooperation agreement. ” Huadian GE joint venture of GM light gas turbine equipment Huadian Co., Ltd. will invest $ 100 million first phase, the main production aircraft modified gas turbine; GE will move production of some parts of the core technology, and gradually increase the localization rate of products. In addition to assembly and testing, the new joint venture will be responsible for the introduction of GE LM2500 + G4, LM6000PD two models of sales, service / site and other services.

“Huadian GM joint venture in Shanghai Minhang, will be the C919 with the Minhang existing large aircraft engines and wings formed R & D center project to further enhance the advanced Minhang District, major equipment manufacturing industry concentration, a strong impetus to the Shanghai area of distributed energy Development. “Minhang District Committee Secretary Chao Sun about the project in the development of Shanghai Minhang and significance of that. At the same time Minhang registered in Minhang Huadian New Energy Co., Ltd. Xin Zhuang Industrial Zone is being carried out in cooperation with the gas distributed ‘heat, electricity, cold “triple for the project, a joint venture company will use GE’s gas Huadian distributed models energy supply, is expected to replace existing coal-fired boilers, Minhang District, 120, 81 beneficiary enterprises to replace coal burning 396,000 tons of standard coal; as improved energy efficiency, save for the Minhang District, 77,500 tons of standard coal, energy efficiency obvious; reduce emissions CO2 126.7, NO2 87 , SO2 695 tons of soot 368 tons.

The LM2500+G4 is the 4th generation of the industry-leading LM2500. It is the most powerful and efficient member of the LM2500 family. Its first military applications will be the French and Italian frigates of the FREMM (Frigate European Multi-Mission) program.

    Engine Overview

The LM2500+G4 marine gas turbine is the 4th generation of the LM2500 marine gas turbine. Its main features are increased power (17%) compared to the the 3rd generation LM2500+, the same high availability and reliability and the same high efficiency.

The increase in power is derived from a combination of a 6% increase in airflow, higher exhaust gas temperatures and a higher pressure ratio, 24.2 vs 23.6:1. This was achieved by incorporating the following proven technology enhancements:

•Redesigned inlet guide vanes and re-staggered stage 0 blisk airfoils.
•Increased high-pressure component life through changes in materials.
•Redesigned stage one high-pressure turbine blade with improved cooling and oxidation coating.
•Application of thermal barrier coatings to high-pressure turbine stage one nozzle.
•Material change and improved cooling for the stage two nozzle.
•Redesigned stage two high-pressure turbine rotor for increased life.
•Redesigned stages two and three nozzles of the 6-stage power turbine for increased power output.
The LM2500+G4 marine gas turbine can be housed in a highly-shock-resistant, thermal, acoustic enclosure on a mounting base. The enclosure attenuates noise in the engine room and provides sensors for inlet icing and fire detection. It also houses fire extinguishing equipment. Modules for this new engine will require modifications to the LM2500+ module.

The simple modular design of the LM2500+G4 incorporates many features to maximize shipboard maintainability and parts replacement downtime, such as a split compressor casing, in-place blade and vane replacement, in-place hot section maintenance and accessible external fuel nozzles.

the only thing the J-20 and X-36 has in common are canards, and they are very different even then. J-20 canards = smaller in proportion to body, not same plane as wing, not trapezoid. X-36 canard = pretty huge, same plane as wing, trapezoid like the J-20’s main wing. besides X-36 has thrust vectoring, no tails, and split ailerons.

J-20 design is closer to F-35 but probably with more thrust and power and likely, more carrying capacity and range. a multi role beast is what it is.

dude, u r not the one saying small wing area = interceptor role, the one who brought this small wing= interceptor issue actually makes up his point by comparing very different aerodynamic design like F15/F22 etc to J20. then where were you? have you question they are “very different even then”?

At least X-36 & J20 share many more things like canard/LERX, lifting body, tailless & J-20 eventually will feature TVC as well. Even they are not comparable, then how can you judge wing area by comparing one aerodynamic design with canard in front but without tail at the back to another design with tail at the back but without canard in front?!

Just a quick thought, has anyone calculated the X-36’s wing area? Does the X-36 fit the bill of highly agile fighter or striker?

    Of course there’s WS-10 derivative:

The QC-185 Gas turbine is based on WS-10 core

    So. People.
When do we expect to see the first Chinese stealth Blackhawk? ….:D

the real Blackhawk has been in service in china for near 2 decades, have u seen any chinese version of blackhawk? So all of a sudden, by touching & sighting, Chinese can make a stealthy one. U should have had a better way to stir things up, honestly.

About the official statements above, case in point:

Aircraft carrier (Varyag) trapped in black Sea – BBC Report, 2nd August 2001.

    Ashish

Varyag was purchased in the name of that purpose doesn’t mean it would only be used for that purpose.

A better case in point would be “WMD discovery” or “false map used to bomb target” if u really keen…
