RE: Open Skies Agreement
ah, but it isn’t an issue of slots… it’s a case of destinations for each airline being limited.
Once open skies comes, bmi could transfer some of it’s european slots to transatlantic slots, Continental and Northwest could buy slots of one of the bankrupt companies, eg Sabena in Europe.
But BA, Virgin, United and American could fly to anywhere in the states, and not just the designated ‘entry’points, as now…
So the passenger would profit by having more point to point routes, a wider choice of airline, and more competitive fares.
RE: Pic Of The Day – Swiss A320!
Kab, pal… that’s a Swissair a/c, not a Swiss one…
RE: Open Skies Agreement
no, no, no… it’s not about LHR being full… it’s about where airlines can fly to from Heathrow.
The sooner openair gets the go ahead, the better.
RE: best airline company to go to los angeles
Those are Air Canada flights with SAS codeshare numbers…
RE: EasyJet could award 120-plane order by end of this month
?? BA are always going on about how impressed with the ex-BCal A320’s they are.
RE: NEW SERVICE FROM STANSTED TO GERMANY?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-09-02 AT 00:52 AM (GMT)]Yes, germanwings is a new company which will start operations from CGN on October 27th, with a fleet of 5 A319’s.
It’s a spin off of eurowings, so presumably this is similar to go, bmibaby etc in that an established airline is starting a low cost subsiduary.

RE: Just …
I was watching Sky Sports News, waiting to see if Rangers FC were going to be made by UEFA to travel to face Anzhi Makhachkala.
Anyway, It came up as breaking news on the ticker that a plane had crashed into the WTC, and then host Dave Clark said reports were coming in of a second plane, hitting, and there would be more on Sky News. I thought it was a Cessna till I turned over later.
Anyway, I musta been really confused, coz I thought my dad would have been on the streets on Manhattan at the time. Obviously not, because three hours later, his BA flight from LHR landed at Halifax.

RE: Various interesting things
Nah, Loganair are just a franchisee.

I don’t really have a problem with that, it’s official name is Glasgow Prestwick International Airport… It’s as misleading as calling Stansted or Luton ‘London’, really.
RE: Suitable equipment for new airline
oh well… that’s sealed his choice of plane then…
RE: Have a drink on me…
to be honest, I hardly drink in flight… maybe a can of beer or a G&T, but that’s about it. And maybe a pint in the bar in the lounge before… but only if I’ve got time (ie if the flight’s delayed)
Yes, I’m well aware what a couple of bevvies at altitude can do to you, but it depends on the person, too. I’m a rugby player (of sorts), so I’m quite used to extended pub sessions, anyway…
Either way, I know my limits, and won’t go overboard (no pun intended), I know when I’ve had enough.
There are just to many people who when going on holiday just decide to drink the whole way…
