RE: When the Queen….
the reason the Royal Family normally have to travel seperately is, if anything should happen to the a/c, we don’t lose the first, second and third in line to the throne in one fell swoop.
RE: Qantas and BA points
nah, the membership regulations say you can only claim on one frequent flyer scheme.
RE: Alliances
yes, it’s small, but I said potentially… Skyteam have only been in existance for just over 12 months, after all…
RE: Alliances
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-04-02 AT 08:25 PM (GMT)]probably depends where you’re coming from…
I fly mainly BA, so for me it’s oneworld, although I am a member of UAL mileage plus, too, so I’m not bothered which one I fly.
Potentially, Skyteam could be a big one, too:
Air France
Delta
Alitalia
AeroMexico
Korean Air
CSA Czech Airlines
RE: UK Airports ignore ban on noisy jets
>BAA, which runs Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and four
>regional airports
WHAT??
Surely that should read Heathrow, Gatwick, Glasgow, Edinburgh and three regional airports.
Anyone who thinks Stansted is a major airport is taking the piss.
Isn’t that just typical of the bloody South-east based media.
RE: 5 engines on BA 747
Wasn’t that the Boeing 720 testbed for the Avro RJX engines?
RE: Worst In-Flight Entertainment?
I’ve not had many long haul flights, so my experiences of IFE are pretty limited.
First long haul flight (5 years ago), LGW-PIT, I was in BA Club World (on a 767-336ER)), and pretty much enjoyed the individual screen with 12 channels, I certainly wasn’t complaining. My only problem was… the main film on the BA flight was the same as on the connecting US Airways flight in Coach (757-2??) from PIT-SFO (my original BA LHR-SFO flight was cancelled because of the cabin crew strike). Not only that, but it was the same film again as I headed back with United Coach (757-2??), from SFO to EWR. After a few days in the big apple, I flew back in World Traveller from EWR to LHR. Different films, but I spent the flight walking up and down the aisle, as I’m not a fan of the seating in 747-136’s.
Anyway, two years ago, I flew AF tempo (Economy) from CDG-YYZ-CDG (A340-300). There were different films each way, but they were pretty lame.
The European companies distributed the headsets free in all cases, while the American companies all charged a few dollars, not for the headset, but for the adapter that was required to plug them in.
In August, I flew Swissair economy from ZRH to LHR (A321), and the screens remained down for the whole flight. They were showing BBC Wildlife documentaries, but there were no headphone jacks, so they were silent documentaries.
On the return flight (A320), there were again silent wildlife documentaries.
So, of the airlines I’ve flown, I’d probably say BA Club World wins hands down for IFE (surprise, surprise!), with AF the worst, although I’d have preferred if SR had just shown us the map with our position for the whole flight.
RE: A310
don’t think so…
I flew a Swissair A310 about 10 years ago, ZRH-LHR-ZRH.
Don’t remember much about the a/c itself, but as far as I can recall, I didn’t have any problems with the flight.
As has been said, it does depend on seat pitch mainly, how comfortable you feel on any given a/c.
RE: Your pic….
ah, what the hell.
here’s my dodgy passport photo.

RE: UK Aviation News
further to the CO 767-400, it will also operate the daily EWR-GLA route in the summer season.
RE: MY TURN!!!!
the fourth one looks like a tristar.
RE: MY TURN!!!!

RE: F1 Grand Prix
there’s an article about this at the ITV website.
RE: MY TURN!!!!

The last one is Omega mail services, not sure about a/c, though…
