Shannon has nothing to do with Open Skies, though. It’s a stipulation by the Irish Government to promote tourism to the West Coast.

so, in conclusion, I had a fantastic time in Barcelona, once again, and some excellent flights with easyJet, whom I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone. Just as I’d say to anyone looking for a destination for a weekend break, Barcelona really is a great place to be (but watch out for the Pickpockets).
After disembarkation, and a quick photo of the rear of my aircraft, I went down the stairs towards Arrivals, and promptly stopped. there it was, one of BA’s new A321’s, and I couldn’t get a clear shot of it from ground level 😡 Nonetheless, I present to you, G-EUXC.
Having already flown on HB-JZH and HB-JZJ, I completed logging the easyJet Switzerland fleet when we taxi-ied past HB-JZI, and joined HB-JZG at the Satelite.
71 minutes after leaving El Prat, we touched back down in Geneva. And it was here I got some of the more unusual pics of other aircraft.
Firstly, New Swiss Charter Airline, Hello, and one of their MD-90’s.
Secondly, new Swiss domestic operator, flybaboo, and one of their Dash 8’s (HB-JEK).
Then I got my first look at an AF A321 (they don’t operate to BSL), F-GTAD.
and here is Lake Geneva, as Ren asked me last week via text, can anyone see any Smoke on it?although, admittedly, we’re the wrong side of it here to see Montreux (where, if you didn’t know, ‘Smoke on the Water’ was penned). We are, in fact, looking in the general direction of Evian-les-Bains, most famous for it’s bottled water.
See what I mean about clouds appearing out of nowhere, then dissapearing again? hell, it’s almost like the Ryanair conundrum. 😉
and so we commenced our descent, this time iy appears to me (although there was no word from the cockpit) that we went in over Northern Italy, and flew along the Valais, heading towards the Eastern End of Lake Geneva, whence we commenced final aproach to the Western shores, and Cointrin Airport. (so if I’m right, this next pic is just north of Milan)
The Cabin on the easyJet Airbus fleet is very quiet, great for relaxing in.
Weather conditions on this flight were strange, at times there didn’t appear to be a cloud in the sky, then seconds later they were everywhere (as you’ll see later). but at the beginning of the flight, it was pretty cloudy, and we were afforded only fleeting glimpses of the Ground, although the winglet looked good in the azure blue sky.
Time for the Traditional in-flight beverage, and a can of Pringles, cause it’s about the most substantial thing they have ready to eat.
So that was it, as far as on the ground at BCN goes, takeoff on board HB-JZJ (formerly G-EZES, the easyJet 319 that was on static display at this year’s Farnborough)…
Next up was Air Europa 737 EC-IXE, with the Disneyland Special Colour scheme. Then it was past the Iberia Domestic Terminal, and finally a couple of F50’s operating for Air Nostrum, belonging to Denim Airways, PH-KXM in Denim colours, and PH-LMT in full Iberia Regional/Air Nostrum colours.
While parked at the Terminal wee BA 767-300 G-BZHC, Braathens 737-700 LN-TUJ, Alitalia MD-80 I-DATU and Sterling 737 OY-SED. You ‘ll notice, on the last picture, that they’re trying to take down that ‘Barcelona’ sign. No doubt trying to avoid me repeating the words I uttered when I visited in March. ‘We’ve knocked Barcelona out of the UEFA Cup’ (and we have… they’re now stuck in the Champions League, whether they like it or not… ;))
