GIB dosen’t have a Level Crossing as such, just a Road that crosses the Runway.

See, my version would be cheaper, and the only station that’d miss out on a Direct link’d be South Gyle, which should have the Tramway, anyway. (At the Shopping Centre, at least)

And that justifies an estimate of £500 Million?
If a Train link is that desperately needed, surely a Station at Turnhouse Village and a complimentary shuttle would be better suited?
The Point being, as it is, the East Coast Mainline goes right by the end of the Main Runway, so it seems a helluva lot to spend on moving the track a Mile West, to go under the Runway via the Terminal..

Humber, as far as the change of Operating Company on the Scottish Rail franchise (ie National Express to First Group), the only affect as far as the passenger is concerned is that the franchisee is now First ScotRail, rather than ScotRail.
However, who operates the Trains isn’t at issue here (especially if the East Coast Mainline is moved, as that’d also involve GNER and Virgin XCountry services between Aberdeen/Inverness and Edinburgh).
The Issue is, it’s a waste of money, given the plans for the Tram down Corstorphine Road.

more worringly I’d be worried about a Train breaking down on the middle of the runway, to be honest (we are talking about ScotRail here ;))
