more worringly I’d be worried about a Train breaking down on the middle of the runway, to be honest (we are talking about ScotRail here ;))
and no doubt it’ll be faster to build a tunnel under the runway than to get the tram service up and running?
and if it’s just one tunnel (and not the whole East Coast mainline), then they’re undermining their own argument (other than just the Runway) about passengers from further afield than Edinburgh using existing Trains rather than transferring to the Tram at Waverley and/or Haymarket. After all, otherwise, the Train’d have to turn round and go back out the other way, adding extra time to journeys.
And Hollyrood cost enough as a white Elephant, without building this, too.

that’s all very well, but where do they envisage placing city centre runways for them to land on?

now, without wanting to be controversial vis a vis EDI, I see this as a TOTAL waste of money. EDI is already to be linked to the City Centre by a Tram link, and moving the whole of the East Coast Mainline a couple of Miles West makes no financial sense to me, when you consider the demand for resources elsewhere on the Rail Network.

is it my imagination or is it light blue? in which case, it’s Hapag-Lloyd, which certainly ties in with the wingletted 737…

had a quick search for it there, but couldn’t find it… It’d be easier to locate if we knew when the photo was taken, rather than the date Jetphotos has (2004)
