Anyways, there wasn’t a lot to do at SchΓΆnefeld landside, if it’s to become the new Gateway to Berlin and be renamed ‘Berlin Brandenburg International’ (which is the stated objective), they’ll have to do a fair bit of work, in my humble opinion.

Admittedly, there was a visitor centre, but it was the other side of the Car Park, and having done a bit of sightseeing in the City earlier, I couldn’t be bothered trudging back over lugging my kit bag with me. There was also a viewing terrace, but a) you couldn’t take luggage with you, and b) it cost 2Euros per adult to go out, and, considering their were a total of 2 aircraft outside, I passed up on the chance.

As soon as I’d checked in, I made my way through security and up to the DutyFree (priorities are paramount, after all). Jeez, those Orange Walls in the stairwell of the easyJet terminal were bright!

Anyway, parked up behind the dutyFree was the one flight I’d been looking forward to see, unfortunately, it was one of the company in question’s more modern planes, I’d been hoping for one of their native built ones, preferably in their old livery. But none the less, there was Aeroflot A319 VP-BDM.

BA had the Tristar long before inheriting from BCal, I flew a BA L1011-385 in ’85.

I don’t think the original BCal had the Tristar, although all BA’s DC-10’s came from BCal. (BA definietly operated the Tristar, DC-10 and 747 for a while in the late 80’s).

Latterly, Caledonian operated some Tristars and DC-10’s, but not a 747, I don’t believe.

what did you expect? πŸ˜‰ I keep pointing out ZRH is uniquely crap.

Actually, come to think of it, there is supposed to be a shop on the viewing terrace at ZRH, I can’t confirm as it’s the best part of ten years since I was there (if I can find a camera with some decent memory, I may well make a trip to ZRH soon, though…)

Of all the airports i’ve been to in the last 4 weeks, and i’ve been to quite a few, lol, the only one which had a enthusiats shop was MAN. I was really dissapointed to find that there was nothing in ZRH!

TWA didn’t go bust as such, either, they were acquired by AA.

You could probably also add SR111 at Halifax to that list, although I’m not sure either of the two crashes caused the eventual collapse of the airline (TWA and UTA being exceptions, having been acquired)

However, wasn’t the UTA crash hijack related in some form or other, too?

don’t have figures for the 318 to hand, but the LX timetable lists specs for their aircraft and the engine power on their 32S aircraft is as follows…

    A321-111 CFM56-5B1-2 14’000kg thrust per engine
    A320-214 CFM56-5B4-2 12’000kg thrust per engine
    A319-112 CFM56-5B5-2 10’000kg thrust per engine

So you can see there’s quite a range in regards to the thrust output of engines on the 320 Family aircraft.

And run the risk of more mistakes? Rather not…. well, perhaps later then some more.

What about those you made that noone picked up on… like 25th Concordino… Concordino being the Saab 2000, not the 340… πŸ˜‰

was that reference to top Gear. They did a mondeo as well

    [sarcasm]No. Really?[/sarcasm]

And here’s the return flight, looking ‘down’, guess what type?

Even before scrolling down, and just seeing the top of the photo, I thought that looks like the Fabric on the AF A330 seats… I scroll down, and, lo and behold, it’s an Air Frog screen… so… would I be right in plumping for the A330?
