That’s not a problem with Airbus, that’s just underpowered CFMs. Now that Airbus are offering proper engines (ie RR Trents), that shouldn’t be a problem… π
here, you started it sending me a text during the FC Basel title party on Sunday night. That was a ten hour shift… and we thought we were halucinating at one stage when two Basel fans walked up the road outside with the Crossbar from Thun on their shoulders… quite how they managed to get it in the train for the hour and a half ride back from the game is a bit of a mystery, though…
Anyway, Aviation related, Ryanair were only intrested in operating out of Basel (and this is perfectly true, btw), if they could rename it ZΓΌrich Euroairport… not surprisingly, The Airport authorities told them to GTF… π
The Super Connie will leave Prestwick this Thursday at 11am for Paris-Mulhouse. It’s been announced that they won’t be letting people visit on board at Mulhouse as they need to get the plane ship shape for it’s official arrival in Basle on Saturday.
Nah… didn’t you read that Text message I sent you the other day? π
It’s going to Paris-Le Bourget on Thursday, and on Saturday it’s due in at Basel/Mulhouse at 11am CEST. 10am BST… surely about the same time you pitch up at Celtic Park for some little inconsequential fixture live network wide?
if you look at the picture, it says Air Berlin on the tailplane.
It wasn’t even a Sabena ARJ… it was a dat Avro. I know, I flew on it… OO-DWD.
yeah, an ‘old’ one… all of 4 and a half years old. π
Looking forward to it arriving at it’s new Base (BSL) on Saturday… π The Ju Air JU-52 will be in attendance to welcome it, as will Ju Air’s DC-3, now painted in classic Swissair livery.
gd, Ringway is MAN.
Keltic, what was the registration of your Luxor MD? I took this photo of SU-BMF in July last year… nice to see they’ve got a livery now…

nb Subsiduary/Franchise in this case is BACX, BA1691 has an enroute stop/change of aircraft at MAN, ZRH-MAN is scheduled for an ERJ145, MAN-GLA for a Dash 8. BA1483 is scheduled to be operated by A319, and BA6743 is scheduled to be operated by A320.
looking forward to this immensely. Apart from the Cup Final (still waiting to hear from Hampden about [debenture] Allocations π ), and the Henrik Testimonial at Celtic Park, it’ll be my first flight on a Dash 8 (in fact, my first non-Saab Prop flight), my first BACX flights, and the first time I’ve spent more than 19 minutes in the Air [the BSL-ZRH leg en route to BCN] in an ERJ. And my first Swiss 320 flight (although I’ve flown a Swiss 319 and a Swissair 320 previously). brilliant.
…and so was the A320!
The 757 was launched in March 1979, and first flew on 19 February 1982.
The A320 was launched in March 1984, and first flew on 22 February 1987.
There’s 5 years (almost to the day, in fact) between them… And I’ll be picky and say that the 320’s wing wasn’t designed over 20 years ago, as it was unlikely to have been designed within the first month of design/production launch… π
and catch the airport bus outside which will take you to GLA in 5 mins.
Although obviously you’d have to wait 20 minutes for the bus to turn up…
but on the bright side, you do get driven past Love Street home of the, er, not quite safe from relegation yet, Buddies… π
Not a chance for the 29th, but I’ll be in Glasgow for the Cup final the weekend before, hopefully flying in the Thursday (20th) and back out on the Wednesday (26th), if anyone fancies a wee meet up? (nb I’m reliant on Public Transport. But I will be through in Embra for a couple of hours, too, at some stage that week, to talk to my Bank Branch)
I recognise that Airport…
It has, apparantly, been operating some of the AF BSL-CDG rotas in the last week or so, rather than the normal AF Regional F100’s.
