Flankers and J-10s are most efficient in Strike role. Using them for
escorting duties is pure waste of large fighter ability.
Now with AWACS in the game the advantage of bigger radars

no no, u’r missing the point, J-10 and Flankers can strike and defend themselves as well!! They dont need escorts. But fe escorts are worth it..why loose J-10 when you can cover it up with Fc-1…and both planes can go home happily.
and as you said sending them to escort is useless, J-h7as are good bombers i feel, but not fighters really, not that agile (thats what ppl say on forums, no sure okay), so J-h7As will need escorts, thats where Fc-1 comes in…unless F-7mf comes in..but i believe China should end its obsession with mig-21 and there varients..i.e. F-7mf.
FC-1 costs 15m with Western avionics, and with Chinese..its around $12m, now if China goes for mass production, Economies of Scale can take the price even more down.
I think its about time for F-7mf vs Fc-1 thread..
