In both wars the Russian generals had plenty of human grease to move through. Most civilizations try to keep their culture and people intact. The Soviets held nothing but contempt for most of their own people and customs.

It’s easier to figure weight class by the installed thrust. The F-16, however, I generally consider a middleweight fighter in the same vein as Rafale and F-4. I’d consider the Gripen a light fighter simply because it has a more modest single hole than the middleweight F-16.

The MiG-29 is clearly a middleweight, but size wise is way below classic middleweights like the F-4.

The F-4 is an interesting one, size-wise it’s a heavy weight BUT engine-wise is a middleweight. I’d venture so far as to call it a cruiserweight.

The F/A-18E/F is more or less like the F-4, huge and using middleweight engines. I’d have to consider it a cruiserweight, too, since it ballooned so much in size over the classic middleweight predecessor F/A-18’s.

The F-16 is definitely at least a welterweight in my book if not light-middleweight. The F-2A, although bigger in footprint, falls in the same category IMHO.

It’s the inheritance of pay that makes Brazilian military pay untenable.

Being a drag for spending some chump change is much better than direct military support when a region goes apesh^t.

The guy claims in ODS that A-10 was withdrawn from CAS mission due to high attrition, but fails to mention it was 8 days before the land war. Oops.
