It ranks right up there with the potato smasher wings.

It’s a Saab graphic. Does anyone else wonder how far a Novi Avon would compete in Switzerland and on the global market?

Gripen is the most open platform of the three and has the lowest RCS of the three. It also has the second best ECM suite, a suitable reckon pod, short field performance that matches or exceeds the other two, and a significantly lower footprint on both the ground and budget environments.

It doesn’t matter if Dassault gets 16 jets cheaper, that was not the original RFB. If it was an RFP then they have a leg. But all parties have to be allowed to submit again or it will go to the courts.

    Also…

Rafael is an angel whereas Rafale is a storm front

Has anyone done any comprehensive comparisons between the MiG-35/OVT* and the Su-35 yet?

    * I believe the basic MiG-35 is without TVC.

If one was to build a KA-3B alike, only using newer OTS technology it may look something like:
    <br />
    Wing span: 22.0m / 70ft<br />
    Length: 22.0m / 70ft<br />
    Height: 6.0m / 20.0ft<br />
    Wings area: 100 m^2 / 1,000ft^2<br />
    Empty mass, kg: 23,000kg / 50,000lb<br />
    Full flying-off mass: 45,000kg / 100,000lb<br />
    Engine: 2 Pratt & Whitney PW1215G<br />
    Force: 2 х 6,800kgf / 67kN / 15,000lb st<br />
    Maximal speed: 1,133km/h / Mach 0.95 / 700mph<br />
    Flying range: 4,800km / 3,000 miles<br />
    Maximal altitude: 13,720m / 45,000ft<br />
    Complement: 4 seats<br />
    Payload: 7,500L / 2,000 of cargo fuel<br />

    Take a KA-3B walkaround:

Chuck Anderson has some cool pictures of the KA-3B:

    Replace F5 with Gripen
Sell F18s to FAA and don’t replace as Gripen’s are more than enough for Swiss AF’s actual role
Net profit and reduction in running costs

Not a dumb plan at all, actually.

What does the Rafale have for a short-range HOBS missile? I mean something like IRIS-T, AIM-9X, Python 5 would seem to be a natural couple for for the upcoming HMD for the Indian Rafale.

    What’s wrong with MICA IR?

Years ago we begged the question why they didn’t push for an A-3 sized utility plane that could carry much more weight than a C-2 and at operate at a higher tempo and fly faster. They probably need a 100K utility aircraft.

    Single Seat

    Wouldn’t a single seat Yak-130 make a good MiG-19 replacement?

Rafale an incremental development of the 4000? You’re kidding.

The M88 is much smaller than the M53.
