USAF was never as precise and professional in regards to air superiority assets as the USN. They are more of a big picture service, hence the much larger parameters of their mission. Ask the same guy questions concerning logistics and he will talk way over your head.
J-10 climbs almost vertically shows its good ability to pull a high AoA
Video clip with music from the J-10βs stun show in Zhuhai08

Can’t really see much control in the vertical from that clip. This one is much more convincing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMR7qU9FVEQ&feature=related π
No, I think he meant Trojan Hors dβoeuvres…
BTW: What does France use now in the role, or is it all missiles?
For a little while longer the Mirage 2000N. To be replaced by a Rafale variant.
Here’s a nice pictures full page on the Mirage IV: http://pagesperso-orange.fr/aeromil-yf/mirage_iv.htm
I always get a kick about the power of the F414 when it comes to Super Hornet. The engine is artificially starved for air in the Super Hornet yet people continue to cite it as having the same massive test scores for power as the model used in the bench testing.

Do you know of any line art of the single rd-33 machine?
Did anyone have information regarding the technical differences between S-54 and S-55?
Maybe meteor would be more appropriate to go first to the countries that are developing it. I don’t see anything beyond Derby as a real bvr option. Darter-U is probably as much a long shot as amraam. The sensitive nature of the technology and that any conflict with Russia increases the odds that this technology falls into the wrong hands is why I see the jf-17/sd-10 combination as a real option at this point in time. That and the MiG-35/r-77 combination, something familiar to the Russians, keeps them from getting paranoid that the power balance is shifting.
reading all this posts ,amazingly only star49 has made sense.
mig-25 and su-27 are to stay for very loooong…. in between the powers in office will change..
1. I rarely read messages from people that are on the ignore list. (The one you said made sense.)
2. The Ukraine Air Force does not operate the MiG-25, but they do have the MiG-29 alongside the Su-27.
Come to think of it, what makes anyone think if they get F-16 or Gripen A/B that they also get amraam? Would the Gripen A/B have to go the Derby/Darter-U routes? Would seem the MiG-35/JF-17 mix would be a better strategy because the former options give bvr capability. The real bind is the armaments; MiG-35 would use r-77, but the JF-17 would only support sd-10.
A neutral country might agree with him. But the world he lives in is very vindictive even if what one says is layered with truths. I pity the sensitivity of leadership in the far east.
Something along the lines of JF-17 wouldn’t be a bad option if they were using the MiG-35 as their frontline fighter and they could share engine commonality. Otherwise they may as well go F-16 for the whole fleet.
I went back and added Switzerland and Norway with notations. Any other suggestions to the list other than the Gripen?
I’d like to hear more input on what Gripen levels will be through 2014 in order to update them.
My numbers were based off of the best public info I could find in 30 seconds of googling per country. π
Oops, I was taking the airflow rate numbers for sfc. π

Since I was wrong about the sfc numbers, I could be wrong about the source. At one time I went out to their respective manufacturers websites for statistics. Will have to look into it sometime this week.
When was the last time – besides the Falklands – they actually used a carrier for military operations?
