I always felt L-159 was a safe design, the poor man’s Hawk. Not unlike the old MB-series of trainers. It would be nice to see the design proliferate although Aero probably needs L-39NG to be successful to have future.

With Russia dropping out of the conventional arms treaty you just might see designs like L-159 and AMX suddenly become en vogue again. Simple. Modern. Affordable. Still relevant.

Please refrain from the constant negativity in this thread. You’ve reached the point where people are fatigued.

New day, same message. Let the Gripen talk be constructive. The constant negative b.s. From you is old. People didn’t endlessly bash you Tomcat versus MiG-25 thread. Leave this one well enough alone already.

Counter rotation of single blades would be seriously less drag in forward flight, but vibration from hell in hover. You go multiple blades for lowered vibration and hence less noise. But hey, two bladed flight has been around in monoplanes for a long time so you know it works in concept.

What benefit could they get from Su-35S? It would diverge from the theme of standardization. It’s not like Su-35S has a killer new weapon. It’s engines aren’t even compatible with MKI even if they are superior. The Rafale should be the last fourth generation heavy fighter in IAF service. Period.

About ten thousand engineers would have been out of work. It’s hard to justify spending without jobs pegged to the task. The rocket and aerospace industries have been hemorrhaging people not much different than when the Soviets fell. How many of our old secrets became cheap? The only solution was a rebuild of all the interfaces (electronic, mechanical, etc.) and UAI accomplished far more than that.

It’s going to be lighter than Gripen A and to get there has to give up capabilities. It would be a hot rod single-seater, just not anywhere near an F-16. It’s costs are fairly unknown until the current operators start talking. I cannot imagine its too expensive by any stretch of the imagination. Without AIM-120 and a HOBS heatseeker cued by HMCS it’s rather bland.

I know F-CK-1 is a bit more in price, but that design went for BVR capability. F-50 without BVR is in the same category as an F-5E.

EA-6B had this side by side seating in two sets. 🙂

I’m surprised the old long range jets really haven’t been replaced by new long range jets.

It takes a lot of air tankers to get long range strike like the old F-111’s and A-6’s.

I use the educated and disciplined rationalizing. Really, bringing in F-111 and F-35 into this? Surely you jest.

I already stated plainly in English the Commercial CF34-10 follows a 7/10 Program. 7,000 hours or 10 years, whichever comes first.

Silly manufacturer. They really don’t want engines coming off the wing any sooner than a decade. But they have to come off in a decade. Many larger engines like FADEC versions of CF6-80C2’s push this out to two decades.
