An F404 would fit snugly in the space of its original motor.

The big picture is that Iraq has iron that fits on these Frogfoot aircraft and rudimentary ability to get support crews for them assembled now, not later. The Shia is no fewer than five independently thinking major groups with a common glue called ISIS. (ISIL for some of you.). Two weeks they’ll be operational at a crude level.
Obvious a female pilot because a man would be rough with such subtle controls and demand a stick be inserted in between the touchpads.
Conventional bombers lay outside the limits of the START talks.
On that note, lets say an upgraded EJ200 is called EJ230. Does that just offer more thrust or is it more efficient too?
It uses further advancements since it conception to push its TWR up one more notch, but it does not lower it’s sfc afaik. It also added more headroom for overall thrust. I believe it’s a drop in replacement for T3+, but that doesn’t necessarily mean older Typhoons could use it. I cannot imagine it wouldn’t take some new change in the frame to accommodate it running hotter.
The simplicity of the LERX add-on makes me believe it could have been part of the original design but was for some reason deleted.
I could imagine a trainer built using the same plan form. Wouldn’t training to fly canards be best done learning in a canard? Plus it has such good visibility for the cockpit. Surely it could be scaled down quite a bit and still have the sharp look.
Rii-
Turkey already enjoys the rights to build, maintain, and even upgrade F-16. If they are aiming for 50-60K pound single engined fighter doesn’t that more or less sound like an F-16? If they are aiming for a 60-70K pound fighter it sounds like an F-15, no? If you took all their TuAF budget for the next ten years, does that even sound like enough money to develop an F-15 competitor let alone a stealth air superiority fighter? Turkey has joint ventures in only a fraction of the core, aviation-specific electronics businesses. They are going to have to develop everything from the ground up, including stealth skins. Just sounds like empty promises.
I’m not finding many specifics, but it sounds like its more or less going to be local assembly more than wholesale construction of TF-X. Maybe they will stick to developing the airframe only, but that’s only maybe 25% of the project. I cannot imagine they will have access to anything but export-restricted versions of somebody else’s radar, ECM, targeting pods, networking infrastructure, etc. if I sound skeptical it’s only because I’m being realistic. They won’t be getting help from Israel on this one.
If they could somehow partnership with SAAB and build a Gripen NG derivative around the F100-PW-229 then I could see export possibilities to existing F-16 users. But that is me being overly optimistic.
Please everyone just ignore JSR and move on. It’s not even funny anymore. Use the IGNORE option if you cannot handle seeing the crazy statements.
It took four partners to afford Typhoon, there is no way Turkey can afford to go a one-up design on it’s own. What possible advantage could its indigenous design have over a Typhoon Tranche 3B with EJ230, Striker HMD, improved PIRATE, AIM-132, AIM-120D, Meteor, Brimstone II, SCALP, Harpoon, AGM-88/ALARM, GBU-12 Paveway II, EGBU-16 Paveway IV, and SDB II?? Tranche 3B already had further stealth-like changes. They could probably go for F414 if they really thought it was an advantage.
What possible advantage could its indigenous design have over a Gripen NG with F414G, Cobra IHMD, IR-Otis IRST, AIM-132, AIM-9X/IRIS-T, Meteor, Brimstone II, Taurus KEPD 350, RBS.15 Mk.IV, GBU-12 Paveway II, EGBU-16 Paveway IV, and SDB II?
Weren’t the B’s grounded the week before for a hydraulic fluid leak?
Their economy couldn’t sustain another F-35 or larger fighter. They may as well buy F-15E, Rafale, or Typhoon.
Sitting on hands is the best way to describe the US air support right now. They are standing down.
