I agree with Daz.Mr Hanks is a favorite actor in my house.He still maintains a little bit of “kid” in his adult body.He let it out admirably in Big and also when he voiced Woody in the Toy Story films.
Anyway,apart from a couple of very scarey Korean horror films,which I won’t bore you with,the last film I saw was the magnificent Ben Hur,the third version made in 1959 staring Charlton Heston,on DVD.Now this is gonna sound really corny but this was a pivital film in my then early life.I must have been around 11 or 12.Our sunday school class was treated to watch this in Leicester Square on the biggest screen I had ever seen,and I thaught the screen at Saturday Morning Pictures (the local Granada) was big.
Ben Hur captured and engrossed me entirely.A cast of thousands,THAT brilliant chariot race,my first feeling of “horror” seeing Masala’s stomped-on body,with bits of flesh hanging off,in the “operating room”,and the loudest music/sound that my little ears had ever heard.
Unfortunatley,it’s nigh-on impossible to to get youngsters to sit through a 3 hour and 32 min. film today,even with an intermission,unless Harry Potter is somewhere in the title,but for those that can will certainly discovere a diamond of a film.:D
