I’m a very BIG on pushing people (parents) to do the right thing when it comes to seats and seatbelts………….
My appartment overlooks a kindergarten and I work at a school, I have seen the following……..
Two cars pull up outside my block (together) with women in the front seat HOLDING babies (they were both from eastern european countries).
Five or six times people takeing their kindergarten aged kids from/or putting then into the back seat where they were either just sitting without any belt or kids seat.
I have lost count how many times I have seen kids climbing around on the back seat of the moveing car they are in.
Just on friday outside my school I saw a couple from africa with two kids in the back seat, the baby was in a correct baby seat, the little three year old was sitting without seat belt or anything.
I thought I’d wait for them to start driveing off and see if they even bother to put the (adult) seatbelt on their boy…….. no!
I walked quickly to them and stopped them, gave them a (nicely put) ear full.
The father/driver said they were just going down the street, of course I told him how he could have his kid killed in a crash 50 meters up the street.
I told them about how they might feel if their boy WAS killed after I had spoken to them and told them exactly where they can buy a seat for him, but he just grinned and thanked me!
Some people should NEVER have kids!
cheers,
-John
Beat this one………….
O/K…………..
Here’s where my family are right now…………..
I have a lovely wife and two fantastic kids, we bought an apartment on the second floor of a block and lived here for the past seven years;:)
This is a copy of an email I sent to my parents last night saying that we will have to sell our apartment and move…………. (I left out the names)
Tonight, for the hundreth time we have been walking around trying to find a window or door that we can get fresh air inside without cigarette smoke comeing into our apartment, WITH NO LUCK!
My wife came home from work tonight (sunday) and went into my 6 year old son’s room (he was asleep), she came out and said that his room smelt like cigarette smoke, we both went in and looked out the window; the window one across and below was open and cigarette smoke was poreing out of it. We closed the window and left his door open.
I went to the balcony door (on the other side of the building) and openned it, but closed it straight away because of the cigarette smoke comeing in from the balcony directly under ours. (Three guys live there, they all smoke, sometimes all together and sometimes not).
We went into our bedroom and smelt smoke there so closed the window (it’s next to the balcony), so we had all the windows and the balcony door closed………. with our apartment smelling of cigarette smoke.
I waited for a while and checked the kitchen window………. no smoke so I left it open. 🙁
The two people next door (with a two – three year old boy) have there kitchen on the other side of the wall to ours, we smelt a strong smell of smoke comeing into our kitchen through the ventilation duct in the kitchen the day after they moved in.
I went next door and asked if they smoked in their apartment; they replied that they both smoke inside “but only in the kitchen, we work hard and need to relax when we get home” and on their balcony (three meters from our bedroom window).
(I told them that smokeing with a little boy there is really bad for him, but it’s like talking to a brick wall) and about them getting sick or dying and leaving him without one or both parents, “yes, but you can get hit by a car anytime” was their reply!
I covered over the ventilation openning in the kitchen with paper and tape but the smell still comes in some how.
So here we are, with smokers in every apartment around us, being woken up quite regularly between 12pm and 4 a.m. by the smell of smoke in our bedroom, closeing our bedroom window and/or balcony door, openning the kitchen window or the kids bedrooms to get air from the other side of the building, or closeing the kids bedroom windows and trying to get the smoke out and some fresh air in:mad:
So how’s your day been!
cheers,
-John (We are being forced out of our home and really ARE looking for another place to live)

I have some promotional posters from the Battle of Britain film, 8 or 9 in total i believe about an A2/1 size, pictures during filming of Spitfires, Hurricanes, 109’s, He111’s and some montages with the actors, with one giving an insight into the film and listing all the aircraft used/made with pictures of the assembly line etc.
Are these collectable?, and where is the best place to go if I wanted to part with them.
ps. they were stored in a roll and the colour is very good on them.
Hi B-17 man,
yes, I’d say that they would be of interest to a collector who might specialise in the film, Ebay would be the best place to get a good price.
You could post a couple of photos on this thread for us folk who share an interest in the film.
cheers,
-John
Sorry guys, I can’t resist………..
Right……….
In my day we would be lucky to have the price for a cup of tea……….
a cup of cold tea……….
without milk………
or sugar……….
or tea………
We used to live in a house with great big holes in the floor, huddled together for fear of falling…………
a house, luxury?!
we used to live in a hole in the ground covered by a tarp……….
a hole in the ground?!
We lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank………
A septic tank?!………… you were lucky!…………
My parents always wondered why I couldn’t remember much when I came home from school, my memory banks were already full of Monty Python!
cheers,
-John

they said 10 days the world will end.
No.1
Stop reading the papers, they are giveing you stupid things to worry about!
No.2
If a black hole is going to swollow the earth it better have the ENO handy!

As an outsider (non-US citizen type person of the non-voteing kind),
I’m not really worried about who gets in, but I just could not believe the MILLIONS and MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars spent by each candidate in their bid:eek:!!!! Anyone wasteing that kind of money on politics where I come from would get their knobs bricked!
(But if I did have a choice I’d vote for Michael Palin with Geena Davis as VP)
cheers,

Hello Flightpath
I completed a course of root canal treatment this week and it cost me GBP315 after a 20% care plan discount. That would be a total price of GBP393.75 or around EUR490.
We complain about how hard it is to get NHS dental treatment in England, but it could obviously be a lot worse, judging by Norwegian prices.
Thanks for making my day better!
No worries mate!
He actually gave me two fillings too but said they were for free! 🙂
cheers,
-John

Hi guys,
while we are talking aircraft parts can someone please tell me about the range of control colum grips used in early Harriers (up to GR.3/T.4).
I know what a GR.3 grip looks like and would prefer that type, but I have seen another type of earlier grip described as ‘Harrier’ (Corke Aero had one years ago).
Is there a differance between Gr.3 and T.4 grips?
cheers,
-John
Just a quick note……..
I have found out that Harrier GR.3 & T.4 aircraft used the same grip. (The one with the lump top/right side with the spring down trigger in it).
I had a less than average day today too Future Pilot……..
I have been off work sick in bed this week, but had a dental appointment in Oslo for my last root canal treatment (putting the cap on).
Yesterday (wednesday) I walked to the station and caught the train to Oslo, after waited in the waiting room at the dentist for 1/2 hour I was told that my appointment was for today (thursday) so went home to bed again!
I arrived at the dentist today, had the job finished and forked out 5000 norwegian kroner (USD$898.35 or £507.86).
The dentist is a friend of mine and said that it would have been more than twice that ammount with another dentist. (He’s correct, I had a quote from a local dentist here).
He’s an aircraft nut too so I gave him a book about the Schnieder races and an inlet valve from a P&W 985 as a gift……..
Now I’m trying to work out how to re-train from being an instrument tech to working as a dentist! 🙂
How much is root canal treatment in the US or the UK?
cheers,
-John
IThat’s my 4th visit
