    Hi,

we have a new dachshund puppy, we will have to carry him on the 17th of May (Norway’s national day, there’s lots of walking), I found a small travel bag with a sholder strap in the garage and put it on the floor with the dogs blanket in it, I put Sammy in expecting him to panic and jump out, he curled up and went to sleep!:)
    Problem solved!

    Hi Richard,

my ammunition box has ’10’ written in pencil on one end, that’s the only hand written markings, the number ‘1’ is stenciled on the top and the box has the normal inspection stamps and part numbers.

    cheers,

    -John

Wow… what a fascinating find. I have a few of these too, from RNZAF corsairs. They all have the service serial number written on in pencil on the sides… I wonder if yours does too. Looks like some number/letters on the top. Judging by the coloring, and your location… it’s quite possible this is from a Royal Navy Corsair, which would make it very rare indeed… any details on how you acquired it?

    Cheers,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,

my location at the time of picking up this and two others was Melbourne, it was amongst other items I collected on monthly visits to hanger No.9 at Moorabbin Airport, so it could still be RN as many aircraft were off loaded in Australia before the RN carriers returned to the UK in 1945.

I’ll check for markings soon, it’s packed away in the garage right now,

    cheers,

    -John

Isn’t there a chance to save the cockpit sections? Would be easy to remove since the whole cockpit is an escape pod.

    You beat me to it!

It must be the easiest aircraft to convert to a cockpit exhibit, fully operational bomber one day, pull the handle and turn up at cockpitfest the next morning!:D

Here’s a great site about the escape module:

Very nice shot chip, you did well!

A ’42 Jeep would look nice there too!

(I’d also tone down the aluminium ladder a bit).;)

    cheers from cold Norway,

In a perfect world::there would be no need for mirrors
because every woman, should have a man
to tell her she looks beautiful.

It wouldn’t be a perfect world then, all the mirror makers would be out of work, it would also cut a big chunk out of the glass industry not to mention frame makers and the double sided tape industry!
Car rear view mirrors would cost too much to make just to keep the mirror industry going and and there would be millions more car accidents. The police would not have their one way windows in the interview rooms and the criminals would see the people fingering them and they would go free to go about their activities (the mirror black market).

Then there would be all the union strikes in support of the mirror makers and others….. total kaos all over the world just so every women would have someone to say they look beautiful, it’s just not worth it!

    Warning, photo added……

Pauline’s probably just a normal everyday woman at home or in her fish ‘n chip shop, it’s just when she screaches out her racial/political views that she erks others.

    http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/milorgman/General/paulinehansonfish1.png

Here’s a short but interesting/funny thing about Pauline comeing to the UK that you might like to see………

    http://themoderatevoice.com/63217/australia-pauline-hanson-vs-multiculturalism/

I’d love some real fish ‘n chips, there’s no shop like a good aussie take away here in Norway, with fish ‘n chips, hamburgers, steak sandwitches, dim sims and all that……. it’s a real shame, maybe I should invite Pauline to open a shop here in Oslo, it would be great as long as she sticks to doing what she knows about!

    cheers,

    -John

BB, I might have been a bit harsh when I remarked on Ms Hansen’s looks……. so I’ll take back the ‘Punch’ remark.

You are correct when you say that it’s what’s inside that counts, but they also say that what’s inside your heart can be seen through the words you speak….. If you have not seen what’s inside Ms Hansen’s heart, look up some old Google videos!

For years we (australians) put up with Ms Hanson and her party/friends brainless, hatefull racial comments and ideas….. it was a shock just to see her in the news again!

I’m letting the ‘Charles Dickens’ remark stand though.

    cheers,

    -John
