    Hello,

I am managing Avialogs and would like to clarify some points:
    – You have not to worry about security issues, etc, content is 100% safe and scanned.
    – The current hosting provider is terrible and everything will be moved to a new host (dedicated infra) within 3 weeks.
    – With the move, a new version of the site, including public domain, orphan works and documents, photos, movies allowed for distribution will be published
    – Source of documents are flying club, airline pilots and personal collections.

The goal is to create a global aviation lilbrary within a non profit structure. The current web site was a “teaser” to check if there was an interest, answer from traffic is definitely yes.

I am now in contact with several museums and organisations, I hope to have good news to be posted soon.

About myself : private pilot, I was involved in France with homebuilt/antique aircraft, I live now in Canada and my current goal is to get one Yak18 ๐Ÿ™‚ You can contact me , all comments/suggestions are welcome.

A ‘labour of love’ Benoit, well done.

One small point. Have only had a quick look through it so far. Is there a list of the remaining aircraft and their status (ie where they are)?

    Roger Smith.

Manufacturer drop down on the right ๐Ÿ˜‰
I will rename it as “other aircrafts”…
The page technical documents archive will be completed today too.

There were talking about to ground her since a little time now. Several factors have played: Costs. Insurance is the same price than for an airliner as this is based on the weight of the plane… one another factor was the state of the plane that needed more than a general overhaul.

While writing the history of FZ668, it becomes an evidence that many other crews would have been lost this day without the sacrifice of FZ626 and F/L Wilson. German troops were holding the DZ, setting up a “flak trap” for all resupplying aircraft and F/L Wilson crashed willingly his mangled aircraft on a nest of Flak 38. He missed them but the panic following allowed other aircraft, including ours to conduct their mission and to fly back home. F/L Lord, VC crashed during the same mission.
We are restoring FZ668 to airworthy status, you can support the project here: https://www.avialogs.aero/index.php/donate

You will find attached the Squadron records log.

If I may prevail upon those looking at this thread who are likely experts on the subject

Can you advise me of the value of a Chipmunk PN – it is definitely original.

I have a set ‘on loan’ and would like to make the owner a fair offer (if I can afford it)

    Roger Smith.

I will give you an answer in $, it depends of course of the book condition, edition number, chipmunk model, but between $30 and $70, not more.

    To make it short :

    – Mention “Crown copyright Reproduced with the permission” and “Air data Publications” in the back => copy
    – Mention “Restricted (for official use only) => Original
    (see attachments)

Last question is about “reproduced by permissions of US government”. I have one Boston IIIA PN with this note but nothing written on the back …

Some sellers do not even know what they sell… It seems that some of them are from the 70 and as the pagen01 mentioned, the low quality of paper make them look the same as originals..

The mention “Reproduced by permission of the united states Government” means it is a repro too ?

    Runway lenght

Now the runway at La Fertรฉ Alais is too short for the B-17 to take-off. The Amicale JBS was looking since years to get an administrative approval to extend it. It seems they have found a good way to make it happen …

I would watch the copyright on Boeing stuff, their pretty hot on what is deemed their intellectual property.

    Graham

For the stearman, these documents were published by the air corps, not by Boeing. They are in all cases in public domain (>50 years from publication).

Regarding copyright for more recent documents, I contacted several constructors more than 2 months ago now (Piper, cessna,EADS,Boeing,Diamond, etc) and get a yes or no answer from them.

It seems there is a tolerance from them for non profit diffusion (see http://www.smartcockpit.com).

If I receive a request to remove a document, this is done within same day.

Just registered and had a quick flick through the site – its pretty good, but focuses on pilots manuals more than tech stuff which is my interest. That said, I will be downloading the Stearman set (A long term aim of mine is to build one… I just need the bucket of bits….)

The site COULD be expanded and vastly improved upon to kill off these muppets who think that they can charge 5K for a set of manuals….

tech stuff (maintenance manuals, engine manuals etc) will follow soon. I have a backlog of documents to publish that should be online within weeks. I build this site as an hobby and more will come soon, when I will have time to do it.

All suggestions to improve it are welcome ๐Ÿ™‚
