    RE: Croatia Airlines pics

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-07-02 AT 07:36 AM (GMT)]T5,I am hopeful to go to Croatia next year because it seems like a beautiful country. The trouble is getting your family to go there (specially in my case) because they still regard Croatia as a war torn country which I know is not at all true. The cities/towns of Dubrovnik,Pula,Split, etc look like very nice places to spend your summer holidays with clear blue sea, lovely architecture, friendly people and an amazing history.
Hopefully people will start coming back to the country, which has seen significant growth in its tourism industry with the help of many tour opertors including Croatia Airlines own tour company.
Have you seen how many flights there are between the UK and Croatia with OU?There are many flights nearly every day.

    RE: Another Crash

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-07-02 AT 01:50 PM (GMT)]Sad news, yet another Russian aircraft crash and yet more reason for people to question the safety of their aircraft.Early speculation on explanations on the crash are down to maintenance or pilot error which seems to be all to common in Russia and the former Soviet tates.
My thoughts are with the friends and families of those who have died. This is the first crash of the IL-86 in its 22 year history.RIP.

Great pictures.Croatia Airlines has one of the youngest fleet in Europe. The BAe 146 is leasted of Flightline I believe as it is under UK registration. The A319 looks like it is at Manchester I would guess and the 737 at Zagred?

Great picture!Looks like the tail could hit the ground on take-off though the new flight controls prevent a tail strike. One of the pilots,on a test flight, managed to get the tail within three inches of the ground.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-07-02 AT 06:50 PM (GMT)]Thanks for the news. How many 767s do they operate at the moment?Seems like quite a large fleet expansion considering the current size, which I believe is quite small.

    RE: bmibaby CWL routes announced

This could be a well needed boost for Jersey’s tourism industry and airport. At the moment the airport is loosing millions and so the entry of a low cost carrier in to the airport could help gain some much needed money.I should think Jersey will do well for the airline if a licence is granted.
I think that it is pretty certain that BA would drop the CWL-BHD and JER routes.I know they have been thinking about getting rid of the route for a while now and so bmibaby would just be the thing needed for BA to pack in the route.
I think the fact bmibaby has moved in to CWL has unfortunately delt a blow to Air Wales who were thing of expanding on to the EDI/GLA routes because they could not compete with bmibaby.

Hopefully this could see the expansion of low cost airlines at JER. Still a bit annoyed that we here in GCI ain’t getting any low cost carriers 🙁
