RE: EUROCELTIC
Yeah sorry got mixed up with michael o’leary CEO of ryanair, with Sir Michael Bishop CEO of BMI,thanks for correcting me.

RE: EUROCELTIC
BMI said they were interested in the JER-LHR route before september 11th,a letter from the CEO of BMI Sir Michael O’Leary indicates that the route is still a possibilty, but due to recent events i am very doubtful that this route will start for at least another year or so or at all.
Ryanair seem to be very promising,i would hope that there services to STN might start very soon if the landing taxes stay the same and other airlines such as BA don’t kick up a fuss like they did when easyjet tried to get into JER.

RE: EUROCELTIC
Euroceltic,do they operate fokker 50’s?i can’t rememeber.
Excellant news for liverpool,in these bad times for aviation its great to know that there are also new routes being added.
Euroceltic will be getting ever dash 8’s or BAe 146’s in the near future.
Jersey hopefully will be getting a stansted service with Ryanair if landing taxes do not change in the near future, also BMI was hoping to operate Heathrow services from jersey starting next summer, but due to the down turn in passenger numbers i do not think this will happen.

Also…for anyone interested there is a new cargo airline here in the C.I.Xair are operating i think BN Islanders between JER-GCI on mail flights.

RE: LHR faces over night flight ban
Because of this LHR may not be able to compete with other INT airports.
The houses that these people live in were built in the 1960’s/ 70’s?It would be nice to know if these are fitted with double glazing or how close these are to roads,i would say a car passing outside your house would be much louder than any Quantas 747-400 landing!

RE: WHAT HAS HAPPENED
Hard question, there are soooo many aircraft that i like but my choice would be the BAe 146.Smart looking, fuel efficiant, very quiet and if its fit for the queen then its alright for me!

RE: WHAT HAS HAPPENED
The only things really, that are happening in aviation at the moment are job losses route reductions ect because of the WTC incident which have all been posted about and are all being replied i would say everyday.
You should be thankful we are posting at all!I am a member of a forum called Trip talk, there hasn’t been a post on there since the 21st August :'(

RE: Overreaction regarding safety measures?
I am not sure if this is true but, two arabic men onboard a LH 747-400 were searched and were found to have box cutters with them, the aircraft was already taxing to the runway but passerngers demanded that the men be searched. There are so many rumours going around how many of them can be true?

RE: Lufthanser Cancel orders for A380!!!!
New demand for large aircraft is likely to dry up in the short term. Many carriers have begun to renegotiate or postpone orders placed for new aeroplanes.
Virgin is holding discussions with both Airbus and Boeing about new orders placed, they said that they would possibly delay orders.
The A380 programme though is still going ahead and there are plans to start building soon.Airbus has said that that company takes a long-term view and believes passenger numbers will have doubled in 15 years, increasing the need for larger aeroplanes.

Also, what aircraft are BA likely to be getting rid of?
RE: Airlines on the edge
BA said that they might be forced to stop flying from Tuesday unless they were insured against terrorist acts.
BA and Virgin threatened to ground their fleets after insurers massively increased war liability cover. But the government has stepped in and have reached a new third party insurance for war and terrorism.
Will Concorde be flying now before the end of the year?

RE: Airlines on the edge
BA cutbacks:
*5,200 new job losses
*1,800 already announced
*20 aircraft withdrawn
*10% cut in flying
More cuts expected:
Lufthansa cut three of its transatlantic routes and said it was freezing hiring.
Sabena has said that it will not last beyond the end of the year unless it manages to restructure.
SAS, which saw its entire board resign on Monday due to an unrelated cartel scandal, said it would cut capacity in relation to the US crisis.
Aer Lingus announced that it was to cut its operations by 25% and would let go more than 600 temporary staff.
Air France said it was freezing hiring and retiring 17 planes from service.
Swissair said the freezing of air travel last week cost it 65m Swiss francs ($41m, £28m). It expects its transatlantic passenger numbers to fall 10-15%, and will announce restructuring measures in October
Gill Airways, has ceased trading, blaming the uncertainty created by events in the US.

RE: passenger plane( that is what they say) hits world trade center.
LAST EDITED ON 19-09-01 AT 05:23 PM (GMT)[p]After the terrorist attacks there have been a few other reports of hoax bomb scares on planes,a VLM Fokker 50 from Jersey to London City was forced to make an emergancy landing at LCY after it was reported by a phone call to LCY that there was a bomb onboard. The airport was closed and the plane landed shortly afterwards with no bomb on board. How many more of these bomb hoaxs will there be?

Now this is strange, according to my world airline routes book,it says that MX 0100 between Mexico city (MCO)and Orlando(ORD) is operated by an A315????strange as i looked on the website and nothing is said about an A315 only an A320.
