There must have been some sort of error with the agent’s system or some similar problem. You would definitely be with Balkan Holidays (Hemus Air) and looking around you would be on an A320 from BHX, unlucky you considering other airports receive the TU-154 πŸ˜‰ I assume you are flying to Varna on the 2nd August? I took the liberty, therefore, to look at the Balkan Holidays brochure, which I have it here, and by all accounts everything points to the companies very own airline rather than a lease or flight operated on behalf of another airline.

Enjoy your holiday. Bulgaria seems like an up and coming holiday resort.

Oh topics like this are just a way for new members to introduce themselves lightly rather than going straght in heavy. Just a “fun” topic so to speak, just except it that way, it will soon enough disappear.

Some airlines allow you to suggest a destination on their website though like they really consider them  Though I could think of a few destinations I would like to suggest for certain airlines.

But surely Hong Kong would rather protect its own carriers in that case? Kuala Lumpur on the other hand has open skies and does a great deal to attract foreign carriers.

If you look around a WHS or similar shop at a BAA airport you would be sure to find a postcard with that picture on. I have one myself.

Anyway, the dispute seems to centre around procedures under which staff must ‘swipe in’ to gain access to terminals.

British Airways pulled out of the Jersey to Heathrow route in 2000. There used to be 5x daily flights between the island and London Heathrow with an A320.

Well Branson said the inaugural flight could be on Concorde

The traffic rights to Hong Kong and Sydney would be a firm difficulty for Virgin, just look at the problems British Airways and Qantas had getting them. To be honest I don’t know why it is not via Kuala Lumpur where they already have traffic rights. It would save a lot of problems.

I have been asked for compulsory identification for domestic flights for about a year now. No real problem except if you do not know that a passport or driving license is required for regional flights then you are in a bit of dilemma.

Yes, it would seem as if this is a definite deal according to the media though the truth is probably very different. I except that a merger presumably would occur with the current emphasis on consolidation in Europe, therefore Iberia and British Airways becoming partners is the key to future success. However, firstly, as stated in the article, British Airways must be restored to former fortune, which seems to be well in process. Then once any formal merger talks take place you must consider the changes to existing air treaties that will be needed before these international airlines are allowed to merge. Existing bilateral would be worked out eventually though it would take time. But again there is recognition within the industry that consolidation is needed if some European carriers are to survive. With the hope that changes may be accelerated if the US and the EU can find a way forward over the transatlantic “open skies” predicament, hopefully the British Airways and Iberia deal could successfully be worked out in the future.

But on the whole it is a positive step for both airlines.

You should be thankful for the temperatures you got over the weekend EGNM πŸ˜‰ Unseasonably good for the British Isles.
