BA is literally saying “Do what you want KLM” with this Iberia merger talk, I think from this KLM’s options have been decided for them and it looks like they are left to Air France. They had their chance though it now seems as if British Airways has got over its KLM chasing period.
Anyway, Iberia is an excellent partner if British Airways were to merge; at last they start concentrating on their existing partners. Total access to the South American and the chance for connecting traffic through Heathrow to North America and the Middle East with no real threat from Madrid because of their niche, it is good for both parties involved.
Hola 😉
I like it because it is original.
I think that there will be too much capacity on the Bournemouth route, no way could two airlines sustain services there in the winter. With two carriers currently flying to Southampton from Jersey there will be too much capacity in the area for flights to actually operate at a profit in my opinion. Aurigny asked for a license to operate from Guernsey to Bournemouth a couple of months ago though withdrew their application a few days later, from this it is obviously just another way to have a quick snap at Le Cocqs.
Stansted has always been popular from here so I don’t think Jersey will be any different. When KLM UK pulled out of the route around 5 years ago, Aurigny did offer to fly the route along with the Southampton route though pulled out of their Stansted application because of low demand for the route with them subsequently also not receiving the Southampton route.
It is good to see Aurigny not just concentrating on Guernsey. Okay I pleased with the expansion they have given the island in terms of routes in the last few years, I doubt other airlines would be so forthcoming to operate Guernsey domestic routes which are pivotal in the finance, tourism and general well being of islanders. However, I believe Jersey has been neglected with little to no expansion in the last years even though it has always been a major focus for Aurigny.
I really don’t like it, there are few airlines that can pull off an appropriate scheme on the A340-600 in my opinion.
Pretty good pictures you have there 🙂
Thanks guys. I was just a bit concerned about the implications so was wondering whether it was advisable to take a scanner or not. At last my mind is at rest 😉
Aer Rianta to be broken up, excellent news!
British Airways economy is generally quite good from my experience.
Plans I heard suggested that FlyGlobespan wanted to link up with a transatlantic partner to increase flights between North America and Scotland. Considering these carriers want to fly from Glasgow rather than Prestwick and also that the parent company operates charter flights across the Atlantic, it would come at no real surprise that they have moved operations.
Ren Frew, could you tell me more about these Scottish Executives? This summer with the aid of this group, bmi set up an EDI-JER route to encourage business. My question is what is their actual purpose?
FRAM Euralair…I have always liked those colours.
KLM in my opinion had no other option although I believe Oneworld would have possessed more for them in terms of exposure.
However, as I have said before, what you must consider here is who was calling the shots in this decision? Northwest has stated it would like to join SkyTeam with its partner Continental because of their link up with Delta. KLM will not lose its relationship with Northwest, who could give them such an enveloped alliance and who would want them as a European partner? No one, and so they have to naturally go where their reliable partner, Northwest goes. Therefore, in my opinion it wasn’t KLM who was the driving force but it was Northwest.
I think T3 was supposed to be a Star exchange in the future. It would make sense with UA, SK, AC, SQ, TG, RG, NZ and NH using this terminal with just the the European and one or two Asian carriers at different terminals.
Good news, this was supposedly “Judgement Day” in the BA/QF alliance rumours, which suggested Qantas might leave Oneworld for Star. This period would allow Qantas the opportunity to jump alliances depending on ACCC’s decision on the renewal of the JSA between the two airlines. Great to hear that they have given interim approval though there is the final decision to wait for.
I think they are behind the worst, they have met their targets so far and are hopefully going to meet their future ones. Seems to of come on a great deal since they entered Chapter 11.
