    RE: Saab 340 & 2000

I have travelled on the saab 340 of my local airline Aurigny from Guernsey to Amsterdam.Again very quiet inside, unfortunately a bit cramped althought the flight was excellent.I like the saab 2000 as well (hence my name)i see the crossair saab 2000’s nearly every day at Guernsey.

p.s Does anyone know what is happening to British Midland Commuter’s Saab 340’s?i heard that they were getting rid of them for the BAe 146.

    RE: Bad news in France…

EasyJet has emerged as a potential buyer of part of the group.EasyJet said it was keen to establish Orly as a major European operating base and bring low-cost flights to the French market.Easyjet are willing to guarantee hundreds of jobsat AOM/Air Liberte but it is not willing to take on the French company’s existing debt.

    RE: BA/KLM: Merger?

The deal would create the world’s biggest airline. But it faces stiff opposition from the EC which has stopped many British Airways proposed mergers such as a planned tie with Sabena in the early 1990s.The EC transport policy is mainly dominated by the French who once feared British Airways, but now the mood is changing with Air France now a profitable airline and a major contender in the international arena. If the merger was successful it will bring KLM and Northwest Airlines from Wings Alliance into the Oneworld alliance.

RE: National Airlines…….BA,AF etc…. What do u think

My local airline aurigny, could be described as the national airline of the channel islands. They fly to amsterdam, standsted, manchester, east midlands using saab 340’s.There are inter island services using bn trislanders, between Jersey,Guernsey and Alderney. There are also trislander services to southampton and Dinard. There are charter flights on a saturday from jersey to manston, camebridge and glouster. They bring the mail in from gatwick to jersey every morning.
Great service, nice cabin crew and never really delayed.
At the moment there is talk of them purchasing atr 42’s which would be used to operate a guernsey-paris cdg flight.

My favouite national airlines are: aer lingus, nice crew and a good service.
Air France,Comfortable, although there was a language barrier but it is not that hard to ask for a drink in french.
Alitalia-Food is all right, comfortable although check in staff were ignorent.travelled on an md 82 gatwick-venice
British airways-Not as bad as people say, crew can be friendly and food has got better. It is not that comfortable in economy.
Swissair-good service and polite and professional staff.Food very nice.Travelled on a a321 to zurich from heathrow
Air Malta-travelling them this year, from what i have heard alright.

    RE: Alitalia

LAST EDITED ON 27-05-01 AT 11:12 AM (GMT)[p]I have traveled alitalia from gatwick to venice on a md 82.The flight was all right, but the seats were uncomfortable and the food was not that great. The cabin crew were quite friendly but were very ingnorent at the check in desk.I found that the md 82 like the 747 you saw looked very dirty with black marks all over it.I here now alitalia are now using crj’s on there late night flights from gatwick to venice. When ever i travel to italy now,i am going to use BA or meridiana.I heard that alitalia are investing a great deal in fleet upgrades which includess the purchase of 747-400’s to replace the older 200’s and erj 145’s for alitalia express.

    RE: Gatick Airport

I use Gatwick south more than north, but i have a book that tells you everything about gatwick even shops and restraunts. Here is alist of shops:accessorize, austin reed ,sock shop, boots, burtons, sunglass hut & watch station, dorothy perkins, virgin music store,wh smith, bally, world duty free, hmv, luggage co there are many many more, but it would take to long to mention all of them. Most of the shops are past security but there are still a few in the check in area. There are many cafes such as garfunkles, macdonalds, costa coffee, planet hollywood as well as many more.
