“New short runway at Heathrow for between 30 and 60 take-offs and landings each day reserved for extra flights to more UK regional airports”

Is this BA talking? Hahaha. Nothing really new there, we know these are needed. The new third runway has always possessed the hope that the regions will get back their regional air routes, I am not too sure if this would be the case though it is good news that they acknowledge this. Essentially going through the EU for assistance in securing vital regional airlinks would be the preferred option for many regions (I know this is the way the Channel Islands are going via the UK government).

Swiss Sun is the charter affiliate of Swiss International they are not low cost. Swiss Express has moved to a low cost operation on European routes to cut costs because of its current situation. In many cases it proves cheaper than Easyjet.

Switzerland does not really have a true low cost carrier. The country really is quite undeserved by the LCC sector though Zurich’s prices etc are not appealing and with Easyjet at Geneva you would have problems with another carrier. I think Basle (or Mulhouse) would be perfect for a new low cost carrier.

The prices should be quite reasonable, look at the Manchester flights. Good news to see a London flight but a few carriers have tried it and failed though VLM are a good, well known airline who probably could encourage growth on the route.

Funny enough the Aurigny Trislanders have been known to land on the beach once or twice in the past because of engine problems.
That Barra picture is great, a real difference 😉

This is good news from Air Canada, it shows that they are taking revamping seriously. They were not a major 747 operator and had a quite diverse 747 operation so to increase efficiency, moving on to a total A340/330 and 767 will increase yields that should in turn help Air Canada to survive in the long run.

While retiring the aircraft may not sound good, the aircraft for Air Canada had too larger capacity for the current market. The A330s, A340s 767s should be able to take off where the 747s left off, probably more practically and economically.

End of June I am flying Aurignt across to Jersey for the day from Guernsey. Nothing special, just going for my yearly summer trip. Just with Aurigny. Plus I am going up to Alderney for the weekend in July.

End of July it is off to Gatwick for spotting trip with Flybe.

Main holiday in August is to Ercan in Turkish Cyprus from Heathrow with KTHY. I have to go via Izmir on the way out for passport control then on the way back via Dalaman. It add another 2 hour on the journey but then again if you want to experience these places you have to take what comes with it.

I have connections booked to Gatwick for my trip again with Flybe. I was booked on British Airways but with them pulling out I was not about to fly Aurigny so I changed tickets.
