Ultimatums to the islands are quite harsh but in the end British European have a business to run. If routes cannot be made profitable with a –Q400 or a BAe 146 then with their habits of network changes, unfortunately unprofitable routes might have to be dropped, as the airline can not justify them. While I see the airline as committed to the Channel Islands, setting up Southampton as a European hub is an example, in certain ways it is questionable but in the end they are now a low cost, European carrier and is not ultimately catering for the Channel Islands. While The States buying Aurigny has made it even worse, a virtual monopoly and a question over impartiality, I cannot blame it all on the airline. High landing fees and bad attitudes towards local airlinks by the island will at length damage tourist numbers, far beyond British Europeans ability to control leading to a loss of passenger numbers and in the end these feared route cuts.

What are the runway capabilities at Paro like in relation to the A319. Excellent to see them with a new order, should meet their high capacity demand.

It is probably better to start anew with a new airline for low cost operations, much more economical for Singapore Airlines. I guess it is just yet another sign of the popularity of low cost airlines a definite new market ready for an increased share of these operations being Asia. Singapore sees the potential and threat that certain airlines possess (Air Asia) and so to protect them an LCC is the right way to go about it. Just like Lufthansa and GermanWings, a highly monopolistic operation in Germany.

No, I agree BA would like more regional destinations. It is just because of current circumstances that BA cannot continue to operate the routes and much has been has been made of it i.e. “London Airways”. If more slots were available then BA could assign more to regional rather than to long haul that are profitable compared to some domestic.

Fine, you might disagree with EAL_King’s spelling and punctuation but please it is a fuss about nothing. How some people have taken to mocking and generally a bad attitude towards him is awful, members should be respected even if they have had minor discrepancies.

In the end of the day it is just spelling and punctuation not flaming. He has been rather pleasant and has contributed some popular topics. Continuing on about certain problems is not going to help, just leave it and in time maybe he will adopt a better standard of English. Continuously moaning about it gets you no where, really it is more innuendo for the person not to change.

    Just my opinion.

Yes, I have contributed a few reviews of the flights I have taken. Generally quite an interesting site if you want to get an insight into the airline you are flying (the car section is not too bad either).

SOU not doing as well as expected? That is a surprise. I had read that their bookings were in exccess of what they had expected with new routes being added early because of demand . While I do not see Bergarac doing as well as expected, I thought places such as Barcelona would be quite lucrative for Flybe?

I know there were rumours about Flybe. quitting the JER-GCI-EXT route. While quite popular, as a result of taxes down here in the Channel Islands and aircraft types they were considering quitting the routes because they could not fill a -Q400. Nothing heard lately but there was a big thing made about what they had said about the GCI/JER-EXT and BHX routes.

That is interesting. Exeter has the room to expand for both terminal and even runway if required so it is quite well placed for meeting the South West’s needs.
Heard of possible Flybe. expansion, is that true? Plus the Exter to the Channel Islands route is doing as good as ever, there is an extra 146 on the route if I am not mistaken.

Would you be in favour of an airport on the South Hams to combine both Exeter and Plymouth traffic?

I remember watching the BBC regional news a while back and there were plans shown for the new Exeter terminal, whatever happened to that plan?

Quite impressive, should help Cork’s growth. I personally think Cork is underserved but hopefully that will change at current growth patterns. Another picture……

Yes Cork is very nice the atmosphere is really great. I also like Kinsale about 30 minutes out of the city, beautiful port and some nice pubs/restaurants as well as some other of the towns around the city. Although Dublin is the same as Cork, I found there were too many tourists as well plus the people were not as friendly though still a great city to visit. Getting in a tourist mood just thinking of it :p

Yes, I remember hearing about the new terminal, air bridges and all.

To be honest I can’t remember much of Cork. There was a good café and a Smokey bar looking over the tarmac then when you went through departures there is a largish tax free shopping area if I remember rightly. I though it was quite a pleasant airport though maybe things have changed or just my standards are low :p

Anyway, glad you had a good trip.
