No it is currently operating since June 4th. From the reservation system:
    Mon, 09 Jun 03
    Flight 2
    Operated by Ryan Int’l Airlines
12:30 pm depart Los Angeles, CA (LAX)
7:50 pm arrive Atlanta, GA (ATL)

I wouldn’t be surprised with either the A319 or 737NG. The 717-300 was never a set option, they said they would like it if Boeing would create it, but the 737-700 or A319 was also an option for the longer distance and extra capacity flights that could be coming.

As it becomes increasingly unlikely that Boeing will create the 717-300 I would say that, whichever manufacturer would offer them the best deal has the edge. Airbus could offer a good deal on the A319 with prices and operating costs, but as a Boeing customer with the 717 I think they would be giving them an equal chance. The 737 has the reliability and again the performance needed plus AirTran have debt loans with Boeing do they not? Could that be a possible reason with restructuring them?

I would think possibly more 717s as they have been popular and sufficient with the airline, plus the 737? Just my opinion…

No sorry, but they do operate from LAS and LAX to Atlanta. These services are operated by their partner Ryan International.

Then you could go into Swiss Express, Swiss Sun and the former Swiss Wings. Plus now the new airline called Air Switzerland.

It is wet leased from Ryan International. Used on the Los Angeles to Las Vegas route.
They are pleased with the 717s but would like a larger aircraft therefore either the Boeing 737NG or Airbus A319 are probably in the running I am lead to believe. Remember hearing about their needs for the 717-300?

They used to fly in from Malmo or Stockholm did they not? Part of Braathens or at least something to do with them.
They are flying DUB-JER this summer I am lead to believe.
    Nice picture….

I have said it before and I will say it again, I just do not see Manston as the success people would like it to be.

Yes I would like to see new development at Manston, but the options for them are really turning against them and the argument that Manston could become a principle European regional airport, will have to be revisited.

In recent months there is talk of landing and take-off slots becoming available at Gatwick and Heathrow because of proposed growth and the scaling down of airline operations in light of the downturn in aviation. The Aurigny purchase was a small example. Don’t be at all fooled, airlines intentions to operate out of Manston may sound good, but customers will seek those slots at the lucrative major London airports, not Manston in the end.

I know we have the success of low cost airlines, but even if airlines are interested in Manston, the proposed development is already significantly behind the owner’s very optimistic growth programme. Even in areas of aviation like business jets, Manston is losing out to become the premier business airport to Farnborough.

There is also the subject of the congested Southeast England skies, which could damage Manston’s attempts at becoming a larger airport due to longer flying times, slots etc. Okay it might be good for regional aircraft but does Kent need a new regional airport? No. It would also be unlikely to generate the optimistic passenger figures.

Then the major problem-the infrastructure. No rail link and poor roads means potential business travellers will choose an airport like LCY.

    Interesting….
Starting too large would be the worst thing you could do. I think I would firstly do a viability study looking into other airlines in my market and the possible demand for certain routes. Start small and then grow to fit your demand rather than being too optimistic and overestimating your market.

    Name: Channel Air
    Base: Jersey, Channel Islands.
    Aircraft: Two leased Dash 8-300s
    Maintenance: Aviation Beauport

    Route network:
    London Stansted (3x daily)
    Paris CDG (1x daily)
    Zurich (3x weekly via Guernsey)
    Isle of Man (2x daily)

London Stansted would be the main route with good connections to London. One aircraft would operate on this route solely.
Zurich would operate 3x weekly with easy connections to international flights through the airport. Would go via Guernsey for this popular reason. Possible code-share with Swiss for easier connections.
Paris CDG: Catering for the popular French market.
Isle Of Man: Catering for the business passenger. Would be an extension of the Paris service.

Possible new destinations would be Caen and Glasgow. Charter flights would be available to generate extra income though these would be only for business flights.

Pricing would be competitive yet a full service would be operated. One class cabin.

I think Lydd Air were in the process of receiving a Shorts 330 for flights to Beauvais and the Channel Islands.
At least you got to saw the Trislander 🙂 Mighty good looking aircraft and fun to fly. G-BEDP used to be with Sky Trek the former Lydd operator who ceased operations.

Just on looks, yes it is a nice aircraft to look at and in BA colours it looks pretty good, but Blue Poole just ruined the aircraft. I’ve always liked it in SATA Air Azores colours though.

It was okay to travel on I suppose, quiet and comfortable with the 2×2 configuration though I much prefer the nice Jetstream 41!

BAe were in the process of changing the name to the Jetstream 61 after the technical problems were sorted on the aircraft I am lead to believe. However, certification costs etc were very high and the reliability of aircraft such as the ATR 72 who had a smaller version with the ATR 42 was more useful for airlines to operate. Some airlines obviously still operate the ATP, but its niche was destroyed with arrival of RJ’s in that time period. Never really was the success that BAe had hoped for like with the Jetstream 31

EXS have a charter business with the 737s plus they are used for cargo so maybe it is EXS expansion? Otherwise, Jet2 would be the most probable answer.

Ah so it is. They have moved to new facilities at Blagnac from Montaudran, never realised that. They carry out work on A320s and 737s down there.
I was down at Blagnac just over a year ago now and I can’t remember that structure. I saw the A380 facilities being built though. The roof looks to be a different shape from the actual A380 building. If you look at the A380 roof it is curved, the AF industries is straight. Sorry for getting it wrong there 🙂

Well Swissair had 9 A340-600s on order. Swiss Int. now has the A340-300 on order I believe, which are due for delivery to replace the MD-11s. Much more expensive than the A340 to operate plus acquisition costs make quite good sense.
I suppose the A340-600 would be a possibility, after all Swissair did have some on order, however, it will not be in the immediate future I would think as Swiss would have no need for them based on their current plans, though I am probably not the best person to go into the Swiss situation.

How can you break your nose on a wall? I know he has a large snout but it doesn’t seem logical that you would hit it so hard or actually hit nose first.
He never like his nose but to not affect his vocal cords he never had surgery.

Is quite funny though that it could happen to such a man 😉

As you do Wysiwyg, as you do. Quite an easy and obvious yet embarrasing mistake to make! How did you overcone that situation 😉
