But still school lunches should be providing healthy food rather than snack and fast food. What example is that?

I still think if Swiss slimmed down, Oneworld would admit them. They have a lot of agreements with other members and with less competition to BA with fleet and route cutbacks, it would seem that one day, hopefully, they may join. However, at the moment I don’t think so. With the bigger BA/AA relationship getting started and BA in a good position, I doubt Swiss would be welcome though that is going off the point of the matter ๐Ÿ™‚

I would turn the situation around. Northwest has stated that it would like to join Skyteam in the near future if all goes well. KLM relies heavily on Northwest as a US partner and would never receive such an enveloped alliance with any other US carrier, who would or could have a similar alliance with KLM? Northwest, however, is its reliable partner. If Northwest has said it will go to Skyteam then KLM will naturally follow. Although I do not think it was the best choice for KLM, Northwest is a definite Skyteam target, given their relationship, KLM had no other choice. Really it is a case of who was pulling the shots in this matter?

What happened to Khalifia? Have they totally disappeared now?

I’d like to think that Aer Arran could make DUB-BHD work but I am not confident. Jersey European operated it for a while and stopped though I heart the ORK-BHD flights are doing quite nicely. Not really aimed at business travellers is it, more towards connections?

Does JetMagic fly between Cork and Cardiff? Anyway JER route starts on the 26th 3x weekly so that is good.

That is where the shed, dear I say it, has done us proud, wysiwyg! Just imagine the Saab on inter island cost wise ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Well Skyteam has not been decided yet though it looks pretty likely. I was clinging on to BA but obviously that option has gone. I think KLM had no other option in the end. Oneworld was right for them but they couldn’t really break their strong ties with NW and lose a very valuable US partner. I suspect NW was the driving force therefore, with its intentions to join Skyteam plus its relationship with CO and DL.
Rather ironic that it would back with Alitalia though! Oh well, who guessed right in the discussion earlier this month?

It would be good for Virgin to get a feeder carrier into Heathrow with the European and regional network of bmi linking with the long haul operations of Virgin. However, I donโ€™t think it would be wise for Virgin to take-over a company which is loss making and not in the best financial position, would it be good for Virgin to take over a shorthaul airline when there is so much competition around also?

    Mikeconnell,
I think AA would offer Star the best advantages if UA were to go under, which I find highly unlikely. BA and AA do not have a full alliance because of Openskies and so cannot get ATI, this is a major disadvantage. As I have said before that the Oneworld transatlantic operation is a joke, what is the point of an alliance if two airlines cannot codeshare across the Atlantic? However, I find it now unlikely that either would move. To be honest I think it is just like the Qantas rumours.
If AA left Oneworld then in my wildest dreams I would hope to see a BA/NW/CO/KL link up but still that is just a pipe dream.

Why do a lot of the Caribbean and North African AF flights go from Orly instead of CDG? Plus due to historical links, what are the actual airlinks to Algeria like in terms of destinations, frequency etc?

The three most popular European routes from Heathrow are Dublin, Amsterdam and Paris so Air France, KLM and Aer Lingus will be there. I imagine Iberia, Lufthansa etc would be there too.

A dash 8 or ATR 42 would be too big and uneconomical for inter island though I would like them to acquire a similar type of aircraft in the future ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe base it at Jersey as a home airline because the aircraft cannot get into Alderney and by hell they wouldn’t consider Guernsey, and then operate destinations in France or the UK.

I think they mean no reported sightings of HK-3111W in the last ten years as it says 2the aircraft HK-3111W was last known to be operating for a company called Intercorr in 1984″
Today a few airlines still operate the Dash 7. A few in South America, the Middle East. Most notably Greenlandair and Voyager Air in Canada.
