They did- the 757,767 and 747SP in hope that Western European would use Almaty as an Asian connection hub but because of financial difficulties this ended.

I don’t think it is just by parents at home Keltic. In the UK school lunches provide, for many, their only main hot meal of the day, however, this meal could consist of pizzas, chips etc. These foods are hardly beneficial and do not meet the daily portions of vital nutrients needed to stay healthy. How this will affect children in the future remains to be seen, but they are all at risk from heart disease and cancer not to mention dental problems. If a school, therefore, cannot educate children on the importance of eating healthily then who can?

While I understand that a lot of blame may lie with the parents not providing children with the correct food and education at an earlier age, a lot of it is a result of many living in poverty. What is more appealing and cost effective- an expensive portion of vegetables or an easy and cheap convenience food?

The media also has a lot to answer for, while we are a democratic society allowed to make our own choices, the media encourages parents and children to take the unhealthy option through irresponsible marketing. How can children ever have a notion of junk food as a bad source of nutrition when you have on prime time children’s television manipulative advertisements selling them a bad diet through pop stars and footballers? It gives it a positive image, which is wrong.

While I myself do eat some junk food, I know when to stop and take the healthy option. It would seem that in the western world people do not know or do not have any option.

I think they connect through these destinations too? For example, United might operate Orlando-Washigton-Heathrow?

I think route take-overs by independent regional carriers are the best way to go to ensure that regions retain their vital airlinks. Airlines like Air Wales always have an orientation similar to that of a regional airline, regional airports, aircraft, costs etc. I think that probably it could be the future of regional operations rather than BA franchise agreements like there used to be. Okay, Citiexpress will still be around but more so as a centralised carrier using one or two main hubs with smaller carriers like Eastern and Flybe. taking the majority of routes. Back to the good ole’ days of reliable regional operators.

Good idea Mongu, though is that not the idea of associate airlines like with Skyteam?

That does look good though any scheme can look good on the graceful 747 🙂

We have no major fast food outlets in Guernsey, which is quite a bonus. Fish n’ chip shops ok, but generally nothing major. To be honest people are quite influenced by the major resources on the island so fish will be bought fresh, meat fresh and fruit and vegetables fresh and also the supermarkets stock local products so it is good. There is quite an emphasis on organic food over here but it is quite expensive and is really only catering for a minority market.

Yeah ok, there are pizzas, Indian and Chinese restaurants here but on the whole it is nothing bad, there is no major problem. People still buy healthily and eat quite sensibly as fresh is still the major preference amoungst locals.

The trouble with Air Wales taking over the service would be that they have no access to the Gatwick slots. Much of the traffic leaving both Newquay and Plymouth is connecting traffic. Unless you plan on catching the business traveller then the point of Air Wales flying into London City is pointless. Unless BA gave up the slots like they did with Aurigny?
I thinki British European could be a good option though not from Plymouth, Exeter would be more obviously suitable.

The fleet consists of mostly Soviet aircraft, the TU-134/154, AN-24, IL-76/86. Some western aircraft are used, the 737-200 and A310s that are leased. Routes in the CIS, Russia and Asia. Germany, Turkey, Korea for example.
Ws in quite bad financial trouble I believe. Think that might of got better after partial privatisation.

Depends if they get the route. It is tryiny to test whether the States will protect their airline and keep the monopoly or allow Le Cocq’s on. Suppose it would be operated with an Islander or Trislander. To be honest I don’t know what aircraft they have nowadays, Noel Hayes seems to be leasing so many different aircraft at the momemt.

Yes Mongu it can, I agree. I just use it generally for local news to get info across and news. I post C.I/SW things as some people can be pretty clueless when it comes to that stuff. Always better to have a regional view 🙂 For example I just posted about the BA pull out of the SW my first post in a couple of weeks.
