Are they not though supposed to offer quite cheap fares across the Atlantic via Keflavik? If for example, you flew LHR-KEF-JFK it would work out quite good? I suppose it must be a good way to support so many American destinations from Iceland.

That makes three of us then interested in the alliances ๐Ÿ™‚

It would be strange to see Alitalia and KLM co-operating again I agree but ultimately would it have any choice considering it would probably be unlikely to break up with Northwest, which seems committed to Skyteam? Although I still think Oneworld is better for them, If the NW/KL relationship broke up KLM would be without a US partner and would be vulnerable to competition.

I think if it were to join Oneworld it would be good for BA, for example regional off to Amsterdam and also they would be eliminating the competition and considering the former BA/KL rumours it could be a good situation for BA. But then again with Swiss having ATI with American and them effectively re-organising themselves, could it be that BA would except Swiss eliminating any need for KLM in Oneworld?

I am in a bit of a predicament over which alliance I think KLM would choose. One part of me thinks that KLM would never break its co-operation with Northwest as they are very strong partners, and with the CO/NW and DL co-operations (and Delta being a Skyteam big shot) I think KLM would have no other option than to go to Skyteam. Continental and Northwest want to go to Skyteam and with KLM getting left behind it would seem that maybe its US partner has made the decision for them.

Then again I think Oneworld because KLM would be making a big mistake in joining Skyteam. AF would not give up growth at CDG for Amsterdam and so will not give KLM the deal it wants. Oneworld would probably possess more options for KLM, it is just Northwest complicates it.

KLM is in a bit of a bad situation and has run out of options. Just a game of waiting I suppose because KLM has said it cannot survive without joining an alliance.

Mongu, what would KLM gain from Star?

Well I think it is still a bold and smart special colour scheme and keeps to the mature VLM look though I would prefer the normal scheme over it. Anyway, I am just pleased that VLM are re-establishing our Zurich airlink and starting a London City flight at the same time from Guernsey ๐Ÿ™‚

Might go looking for that tomorrow. Hopefully VLM might bring it in. I’m sure Comet will have something to say about it ๐Ÿ™‚

Maybe it is because Qantas is the largest shareholder in Air Pacific?

A very well put together programme remained neutral and showed all the parties presented arguments. However, I agree some questions were not sufficiently answer.

I must say that the Swiss article was a bit far-fetched on the journalistโ€™s behalf. Sure Swiss have some serious problems as I have posted over the last few months, but the cash supply is still sufficient to make them last.

It would look good on a 767 or other smaller aircraft but on the 747 the colours look rather sparse.

I’ve done the Gatwick Express trice before and it is quite frequent any very easy to use though Victoria is not exactley the most user friendly station in the world.
