Thanks for the info. To be honest I don’t like travelling on trains plus with so much luggage it’s pretty hard to carry it all onto the train so I am not keen on that option.
I am travelling GCI-LGW on BA, however, the flight out of Heathrow is Turkish Kibris so I doubt I would be able to get a voucher off BA. The coach seems the easiest option although where would I be able to book tickets? I have taken now into account the traffic situation and will leave plenty of time as well.

    Thanks for the help.

Thanks EGNM. I know Royal Jordanian pulled out as the A340 can now reach the USA without a stop at Shannon. Shame really. Had relatives who live in Limerick who used to take the A310 to Chicago. They said it was cheap and great service.

Air Slovakia will commence operations from Birmingham to Bratislava on June 29th, the only scheduled flight from the UK.
It will fly four times a week with a 767 and 757 with initial services connecting to Amritsar.

    Mongu,
The Shannon stop is a legal requirement imposed by the Irish authorities to guarantee the success of tourism in the west of Ireland. Frankly it is an outdated law and risks transatlantic services over regional politics.

The Irish government is now under pressure to scrap the rule as part of a move to liberalise aviation from Europe to the USA. The actual stopover is not well liked by the American airlines with Delta and Continental all angry at the situation because it costs them a lot of money. Even threatened to pull out of Ireland.

The webmaster has never seemed to bothered about it to be honest so I guess we can’t be doing too much damage. Only time I have known him to do so is if someone alters the picture.

A large Irish population in Philidelphia so good news for the Dublin in Shannon. We need some new Aer Lingus trans-atlantic routes soon!
EGNM, out of interest, which flights has Shannon lost? Just I am interested in the Irish flights..

“G-BMLC — Aurigny Air Services — Shorts 360. (Nice to see this… one of the blokes I got talking to said it was operating a Mail flight?)”

You saw the thing we have to put up with on Inter island! Dirty aircraft, hope the second one they are leasing is nicer. Anyway, it was the mail flight from Jersey. I think this flight might be ending soon because the mail will go through shipping at Portsmouth due to increased security as every letter has to be checked. Might get a Trislander up because they woud still be doing a small bit of mail but the trouble is that they would have to re-fuel at LGW.
