I was thinking along the same lines, EN830.
Well I have doubts as to whether these aircraft would be suitable for Iraqi Airways at least in the next couple of years. I don’t think they would be able to support a fleet of A340, A330 and A320 aircraft as the traffic demand is just not there and will not be there for years. I can see, however, something similar to Ariana with A300s or A310s.
Nevertheless, you can bet Qatar and Emirates will be into Baghdad very soon after the war. Maybe even some European airlines will begin operations there.

No not in the near future I know, but hopefully after the war, a new airline will emerge. I doubt highly it will be with the aircraft mentioned on that website, but it will probably be with some leased aircraft like what we saw with Ariana’s A300s from Air India. Also, look how quick they re-started operations after the war, likewise with Iraqi you would pressume.

Yes, I saw pictures of the destroyed 727, sad really. However, we must remain optimistic. Looking at the website below, it shows Iraqi Airways will operate the A340, A330 and A320…..

I will see what I can do, might try and persuade the States that it is for a good cause 🙂
Nothing beats an Irish Cashel Blue or a Port Salut.
On the subject of cheese triangles, I prefer Laughing Cow to Dairylea, sooo much better health wise and taste wise.
By the way, why does she laugh?

Wysiwyg,
You have made my day! I saw the flight to Gatwick on Teletext and wondered what it was doing down in Jersey. Anyway, that was a great report. Say, any chance you could bring it down to Guernsey next year rather than Hawaii 😀
I doubt Ryanair would fly there, it is too close to Baghdad city. Probably somewhere in Jordan passed off as “Baghdad East”, would be most likely.
Seriously, there was a 727 on some media pictures I saw, presumably Iraqi Airways?
